The live feed is reporting that Ugly Betty is moving to Wednesday's at 10pm. No date given other than "very soon".
Update: The Executive A Producer tweets that it will move on January 6.
To me that move says "We don't have a lot of faith in our mid-season replacements".
As for viewership levels, I don't have hourly averages, but on Wednesday November 11 @10pm 40.3% of adults 18-49 were watching television, and on Friday November 13 @ 9pm (UB's current slot), there were 31.8% of adults 18-49 watching television. So perhaps Betty's new hour has about 25% more adults 18-49 watching television.
Betty has averaged a microscopic 1.22 adults 18-49 rating this season on Friday (with no repeats). Even 25% better, that's just a 1.6 rating.
ABC didn't have something on the bench it figured could do a 1.6 rating?

Why 9pm?? Modern Family and Cougar Town are doing well in that slot, why break the combo up??? ABC should move Betty to 10pm so the comedy block can be kep intact.
cant it be that they agree with critics and that BETTY is having its best season creatively since the first and they want to give it one more fair shot.

I’m right there with you Bill, this is more about filling a schedule hole then it is about anything else in my opinion.

10pm makes more sense. Its just to burn Betty off with better numbers then the series would have achieved on Fridays. Also betty is compatible with the rest of the shows.
Hoping Ugly Betty could get a 2.0 on that slot. But it least it gets a new night
The next thing is that ABC announces Wife Swap’s return on fridays and by March, Scrubs moves to 8pm, should ABC order more eps.
One would think ABC would want to save Ugly Betty. Looks like its the 3 episode summer burn off for Eastwick, unless ABC decides to burn the series off on 3 consecutive fridays in January at 9, a la Dollhouse.
UB is getting enough episodes for syndication. Wasn’t that amount of time enough to qualify as a fair shot? The competition is CSI:NY and Jay Leno. If UB can’t get good ratings Wednesday at 10, stop the whining.
I hope this move sort of confirms the Comedy block on Wednesdays stays because ABC could have moved Betty to 8pm as cannon fodder for AI but they didn’t and with Lost now on Tuesdays so I think this it. Plus, the comedies following UB is a good opportunity for a new marketing campaign for the night. Now, what will replace Hank’s spot is still a mystery
I still think Betty will do the same as all ABC’s 10pm series, (which isnt that great) however its still better than how it performs fridays. And now ABC has something to air in the slot.
Dan, I think it will get a 1.5 at least but I hope its higher though. I still like this move though since UB got a very depressing 0.9 last Friday and even though the show’s future is bleak, I’m fine with the move because at least it will get better numbers and if it will end at least not on such low numbers

Forg – My bet is that the comedy block will stay as is and Modern Family or Scrubs repeats will continue to air at 8-8:30 from Jan-Feb. Then its likely ABC will order more episodes of Scrubs (so the revamped series can air until May). Scrubs and Ted will finish in their slots by March so Lost and DWTS can take over, however this gives ABC the opportunity to continue airing new Scrubs and they have a slot 8-8:30 wed to do it in. So maybe for Tuesdays
