Update: Third season renewal officially announced!
Sons Of Anarchy ended its second season on a high ratings note, setting a new series high in viewers with 4.328 million, eclipsing the previous series high of 4.29 million (for the season two premiere).
Adults 18-49 look to be close, but not quite a record. Last night's SOA averaged a 2.3/7 rating share rating with adults 18-49, but I need to wait to see the # of adults 18-49 viewers before knowing if it's a record. The previous high was 3.028 million adults 18-49 for the season two premiere, and by math last night's 2.3 (actually a 2.27) will get it right around a 3 million.
Update: missed a new high with adults 18-49, but not by much with 2.985 million.
It was, of course, the highest-rated cable show of the night (excluding the presidential address).
A good night for SAMCRO and its fans either way.

Brilliant news and what a finale it was.
Shhh…Don’t tell I am going to watch it later on this evening!
Oh and is this true about heros?

Mike, there have been other “everybody’s heard” type stories on Heroes this season. Whether they are true or not I can’t say, but the fact that Heroes’ ratings are what they are mean they have basis in fact to be true.
Anarchy along with Damages are the two best newer shows on cable by far. The writing and acting are superb.
What a show. What a great, fabulous show. S2 is probably Kurt Sutter’s magnum opus, is it not? I don’t know how he can top what he did this season.
Not only is a Third series in order but a fourth series too! SoA is to FX what True Blood is to HBO. I wonder if the success of these shows will mean less critically acclaimed but more popular concepts although HBO isn’t going to shy away from shows that get a tiny audience and their upcoming stuff like Treme and The Pacific are likely to lavished by the critics by the bucketload.
It seems the cable networks have their powerhouse show with Burn Notice on USA, True Blood on HBO and Sons of Anarchy on FX.
can’t wait for next season of sons, best series thus far
Sons of Anarchy season 2 finale was superb. Great story arc which kept me guessing the entire time. I did not see that ending coming either. FX not only needs to renew this show for a season 3 but also for a 4th season and they need to do this YESTERDAY! Sons of Anarchy is FX Networks BEST show, PERIOD.
SOA is the greatest show ever created! Thank you for two amazing seasons..can’t wait to see the next one. The cast, writers n everyone that had something to do with this amazing show THANK YOU!!!!!!!!! U ALL DESERVE AN AWARD! ;0)
TV Bill tweeted “Not so fast, SCRUBS! Looks like SONS OF ANARCHY was last night’s #1 TV Show with Young Men. It scored 3.2/11 in M18-34.”
Congrats! But I am with Aaron! How can you top that? It was FANTASTIC!
Pat on the back for all us SOA fans for tuning in, coming thru!
What did I say last week?
It would get between 4-5 million viewers or possibly a series high guaranteed and it got just that. This show has become the biggest hit for FX since Nip/Tuck but The Sons is a way better show miles ahead. Its The Wire then this show as the best quality dramas of the decade IMO.
Congrads Sons!
anarchy forever….
