I guess I am the sole person that doesn’t like the direction the network has taken. Read the interview with David Howe. Great backhanded compliment he gave BSG. Everything is sooooo! much better now.

  2. Cody

    Wow women watch syfy

  3. Morena

Yes Cody, women watch Syfy. Well, this woman used to. Since SGU has lost me, there is no longer a need for me to tune in. I might check out Caprica if I hear it’s good though. Anyhoo…

I just read an interview where Brad Wright said:

“So, you know, at the end of the day you have to trust yourself and the general fan response, not specific fan responses. And that comes down to viewership – are people tuning in and do people seem to watching en masse? That’s the only real barometer you have.”

So, if anyone thinks that by watching the show and then complaining that the producers are listening is wrong according to Brad.

The ONLY thing they understand is viewership, plain and simple.

If you watch/DVR SGU and don’t like it, you are essentially telling them that you do by continuing to watch/DVR.

Just thought you all might want to know this.

Nice to know that my daily and frequent complaints to the network via syfy.com has helped boost its metrics. Glad I could do my part.

The talking heads are doing everything they can to MAKE those of us that have been their core viewer (Brad Wright)stop warching heir show. He just fails to understand some of us just refuse to let our franchise die. We all need to avoid watching the show a few episodes to get HIS attention. If he refuses to hear feedback for individuals then he can not ever get any feedback because on individuals can tell him what we think of his program.

I had dinner with my niece and her boy friend recently and he is maybe 16 years younger than I am. While talking to him we realized we both were big fans of the Stargate franchise. When Universe came up I was surprised at how disappointed he seemed to be in the change of the show. He like me has continued to DVR the show but admited it was only a matter of time before he removed it from his record list. After firteen years of supporting the franchise we both feel the show is no longer interesting to either of us. My niece also mentioned that she hated the way women were being characterized in Universe.

I honestly believe Stargate Universe will suffer a hugh ratings drop when all the folks like me out there just stop watching the show. Brad Wright might wish he had listened to individuals when he was asked to save the show, but refused to hear what so many were telling him. By then it will be too late to save it!

Considering that Sanctuary ratings are down from last year, SGU first season is doing better than SGA’s last season (not by lots but better) and this is their best November ever, I can only think that Ghost Hunters and Ghost Hunters Academy must be sizzling hot. Or last November really was lousy. I don’t know. Thank goodness for the name change or who knows what would have happened. LOL

Next year the hope to get more than a million viewers at the same time ;)

  9. Tom

Are they really trying to argue that changing the network’s name from SciFi to SyFy helped bring in viewers? Really?

  10. Squirrelly Baby

Hard to believe that this is the best November ever considering the HH numbers for all their top shows are well below the numbers of Stargate and other shows in their heyday. I remember being disappointed when an episode of SG-1 “only” got a 2.5 HH. rating. Compare that to the 1.2 HH of SGU and 1.1 of Sanctuary.

Of course, even back then as the SG-1 ratings slid from the upper 2′s to the lower 2′s, Syfy/Sci-fi kept putting out press releases like this one, crowing about the big increases. So, this is just more of the same sleight-of-hand, magic-numbers game Syfy has always played and it only works as long as the release is taken at face value by someone who doesn’t remember past ratings history.

  11. Sanctuary started out hot, but has been uneven since the two-part season opener – a couple episodes were not great, and a couple were. And exchanging Emilie Ullerup for Agam Darshi was a bad mistake.

They need – again – to up the pace. Producers! EVERY SEASON NEEDS TO BE HOTTER THAN THE LAST OR YOU LOSE VIEWERS! GET A CLUE!

Yet, you realize this is a trend overall for ALL networks.

    One commenter says it best

“Puzzled to see so many shows down across the board.”

Believe me, this is NOT just SGU/Sanctuary and Syfy…but an overall trend of TV show downloaders – Hulu-ites causing a ripple in the TV viewer time continuum vortex.

    Welcome to 2009/2010 TV Viewing.

  13. Tks

Sgu is the only stargate I’ve watched. I like alot. But right now it’s theonly thing I watch on the channel. Don’t get the ghost reality shows. It’s like watching wrestling it’s not real. I miss the old when there was really science fiction on the channel. I’ve been watching chiller and like it. Also BBC America has had some great sifi shows. Hello Torchwood. Being human, primeevil. Good stuff.

  14. David

Another good show on SyFy is Warehouse 13. If you have not seen it it is a pretty good show. If Fox cancels Fringe I would like to see it end up on SyFy, but probably to expensive.

  15. Brian

    @Morena
You really should stop posting that DVR stuff on all the articles. SGU isn’t the best show but it is quite good and worth DVRing. I little more action wouldn’t hurt but character development is always good for the story later on.

  16. Morena

    Thanks Brian.

I’m glad you got to read it.

  17. Brian

    Brian,
It seems really hypocritical to ask people not to post DVR info and then you turn around and post DVR info. “Do as I say and not as I do” comes to mind.

  19. Brian

I was stating not to post “dont watch” your DVR stuff not the accuall numbers

  20. Morena

    .
    .
Brian – If that’s the case, then you were asking me to do something I didn’t do. I NEVER told anyone not to watch what they have on their DVR. If you actually read my comment, it was providing a quote from one of the creators of SGU saying that the only real barometer for viewer satisfaction they have is viewership. T

hat is not telling anyone not to watch SGU. Please pay attention to what is being said before you post a response to it.
