Why are all soaps so low on Tuesday?
The ABC soaps look to do better on Tuesdays then the other networks.
I used to watch the ABC shows (AMC more than the others), but not really in recent times. I may tune in for AMC’s 40th anniversary, though.
rob: My guess, based on my wife’;s analysis, is that there are always “mini-cliffhangers” on Fridays, which are resolved on Mondays…
…thus Tuesdays are the ebb tide of a soap’s week, building from there to Friday/Monday.
JR: My wife’s favourite soap is AMC, and she would give it an 8 out of 10 – don’t do an Adrian Peterson to get home to catch it, but you may go 70 in a 55 zone to get to a TV on time
Guess James Franco on General Hospital didn’t do much to the soap’s ratings.
Its a shame One Life to Live will be cancelled next year by ABC,it really rocks the 18-49 rating for women which is what should matter but well ABC wants it gone. There is a rumor going around NBC will pick up One life to Live and partner it with its lone daytime soap Days of our lives, which will be awesome.Hopefully NBC confirms the move cos ABC sux!
timothy oltl will not be cancel next year if they where going to be cancel why would they put so much money in to money it dont make since atwt will be cancel i love that show i watch everyday i just dont understand why the rating always down and i wish they had a star on that show to bring up those rating other than that i hope atwt want get cancel but a 1.6 is not good for a show but i have to force myself say it going to get better and it has it just nobody is tune in i pray that nelson rummer is true that atwt done got renewed than i want pay that much attention to it
JR, AMC’s 40th anniversary should be really good. They’re bringing back the actors who played Greg Nelson, Brooke English, Nina Cortlandt, Maria Santos & of course Hayley & Mateo (Kelly Ripa & her husband).
I think it’s funny that AMC’s last head writer, whose work was certainly not great but imo not as bad as the past 3 before him, and the ratings have been steady or rising lately!
I can’t wait to see the AMC 40th, should be fun for the show to bring back some actors who played unforgettable characters that contributed to the shows success and no doudt there will many “clips” from past years OHHH can’t wait. I only hope that the special starts over christmas break, because on 1/5/10 i will be in school. I better get swine flew, it will be worth it.
If they’re putting so much money into ATWT, why cancel it? As I have said before, CBS CAN handle 3 soaps
michael,it is not clear if OLTL will be cancelled next year, that is the mistake in my post but ABC has uttered something to the effect that they would let go of 1 of the 3 soaps currently on their programming. It can not be GH or AMC,so the odds are on OLTL.I have also read an article to this effect from an actor who got fired from AMC,do not know his name,I dont usually keep their names anyway, who was expressing disappointment that ABC was willing to keep AMC on but axe OLTL.
yes days is still doing very well in the ratings i am so glad atwt is becoming the GL of daytime dead last in households and women 18- 49 demo it wont be long b4 cbs cancels it either this month or in the first 3 months of 2010 then it will leave no astaped in new york all in los angeles and my stud daniel cosgrove can join days as maybe eric brady or a new character intersting he goes from a dead last now cancelled thank god GL TO ANOTHER DEAD LAST SOAP AS THE STOMACH TURNS but it will leave him open for nbc to grab him for days very soon bye ATWT CYA THANKS CBS GOTTA LOVE THE EYE NETWORK for cancelling GL AND THE VERY SOON TO BE CANNED ATWT CBYESSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It would be amazing and a great thing if we get through 2010 with no soap being canceled.
With NBC having full control of their schedule in a couple of years, would that open the door to another two hour soap block since DAYS is thriving right now. I would love for NBC to pick up any soap that’s canceled and put it right after DAYS.
Listen, it’s almost Xmas time, ATWT should have a good rest of December
For those that are not watching ATWT, start watching NOW!!! Keep our world turning!!!
If CBS were to cancel ATWT, move it over to NBC. Put ATWT on at 1, and move DAYS to 2, so OLTL can fall!!
Days News…B& B down…one to go!… Look out Y$R!
Days would definitely dethrone B&B with another serial killer storyline- but i guess this would exasperating to the audience.
A Y&R repeat beat many CW repeats.
Well, it was only 3 days and ATWT got +31,000 more viewers for Thanksgiving wk. Does everyone think that 11/30 to 12/4 was a good wk for ATWT?
Get ATWT to the 2.0 mark! Start watching Monday! Or if u started watchin again last wk, that’s fine w/ me! Let’s hope CBS renews it afterall!
I think for a soap to get cancelled, it would have to get GL #s which sometimes averaged below 2 million. I dont see how any of these soaps are in real danger. None of them are getting GL horrible ratings.
