good job Private Pratice for standing on your own

  2. the128boy

Parks And Rec is the best show nobody is watching.

Kinda wish The Office could have gained a bigger boost from the PP/CSI(R) competition.

  3. the128boy

^^^Although P&R is only down 4.6% from Kath & Kim last year and The Office is only down 6.9%. So that is pretty solid for both.

  4. Michael

Ouch- Community beat Flash Forward in the demo and Parks and Rec tied Flash Forward in the demo. Now does everyone agree it’s dead?

  5. Jeff

    Bill,

Do you think Parks and Recreation and Community are tied to each other for renewal? Is there a chance one could be renewed and the other not?

Also, I’m sure you’ll update the renew/cancel index soon, but what do you think Community’s chances specifically are?

  6. Altair

FlashForward is so disappointing… If in the 2nd part of the season it goes under 2.0, it’s gone for good.
Nice recovery for Fringe, but when Grey’s and CSI comes back, it will sank. Again.

    Jeff,

Its all dependent upon how quickly the blind script deals NBC signed are progressing. Community I can see being picked up just on the merits of the show. Its completely different from Office & 30 Rock. P&R is essentially a knock off of the Office, its only hope is that NBC keeps it around for Amy Pohler. Community has shown that it can put up the same numbers as 30 rock in that time slot (if not improve upon those numbers).

I really think the renewal depends on what happens with Leno along with the comcast purchase.

    @Jeff,

that’s what I’ve been saying this whole time. one will survive, one will be replaced, but which will stay and which will go? Right now Community looks like the winner, unfortunately.

  9. Jeff

    Roland,

That’s all good, but seems like mostly conjecture. I’m not sure what “the merits of the show” means. Also, what happens with Leno? Meaning what?

What I wonder is what level to which the behind the scenes issues with a show play with its renewal. For example, I’ve heard Community is having some problems, so what I wonder is, beyond are Parks and Rec and Community tied to each other, does Amy Poehler being an NBC star matter? And would creative differences behind the scenes affect a shows chances for renewal at all? Or is it really just ratings ratings ratings.

“Also, what happens with Leno? Meaning what?”

I assume that Roland is referencing the scenario where Leno is canceled. In that case NBC needs to fill 5 hours of programming a week (or 2 or 3 if you think they are merely going to scale Leno back to 2 or three nights a week).

In that case the thinking is that NBC can’t cancel a bunch of stuff that they have on now, because they don’t have that much waiting in the wings. So shows with a half-decent demo rating (by NBC standards) would all be renewed and a bunch of new shows would be deployed.

Shorter version: If Leno is canceled then P&R and Community are safe.

Now, with that being said, I agree with the TVBTN site that Leno is safe for at lease the rest of this year and even next year the more likely scenario is that he will be scaled back to three nights a week (Mon, Wed, Fri)

What makes this interesting is that NBC definitely won’t announce the cancellation of any show (including Leno) until the upfronts next year.

Those are some strong numbers for the college football game considering the late start on the East coast & it involved two teams from Oregon.

If I were NBC I would strongly consider getting some Thursday night NFL games the last 6 weeks of the season.

  12. Lucky

Fringe was most likely up due to Supernatural and CSI repeats, not GA! It just goes to show that people would watch it if it was on at a different time! Same goes for Supernatural. It would do a hell of a lot better on a diff day and probably on another network! The CW seems to carry a bit of a stigma, which prevents people from watching even its good shows!

  13. I found myself watching Bones instead of Flash Forward last Thursday. In fact, I’ve become addicted to this show and have started watching the reruns on TNT, My9, and the new ones on Fox. Yes, it’s only now that I’ve discovered Bones. Thanks to my hotel in Barcelona that only had two English channels. Oh did you know that Boston Legal is good too? LOL

Bye-bye Flash Forward. This show had so much promise when it started. Don’t know what went wrong.
