  1. I think that with the viral marketing during Football, Thanksgiving and upcoming Winter Olympics, that people will tune in to see Chuck. Why? Because the advertising for Chuck is much better.

  2. Robert, tell me one thing. Why do you think NBC is putting Chuck at 8pm? Wouldn’t it have better ratings if it aired at 9pm where there’s less competition (no House) and with a Heroes lead-in? Or is NBC expecting that it will bump Heroes ratings?

  3. My guess is that NBC hopes Heroes will fare slightly better with House out of the way. Plus, there is probably is some overlap w/Chuck audience and The Big Bang Theory.

I don’t think flip-flopping the shows would change either show’s ratings fates by much though.

I love all of these promos for my favorite show!

I just can’t get over how much NBC is treating “Chuck” like gold right now! Its hard to believe that just 6 months ago it was on the verge of cancellation, and now the network is depending on its hardcore base!

  5. Michael

That’s because of all of NBC’s scripted shows except SVU, 30 Rock and the Office usually get below 2.4 in the demo. In the land of the blind, the one eyed man is king.

  6. For a non NBC owned property, they are treating Chuck with great care. The promos during Football are proof of that.

  7. Outlander

I hope this “new direction” works for them. The promo suggests a pretty dramatic departure for the show. The old Chuck wasn’t a real action hero–he kind of stumbled through things and learned along the way. It looks like they’re making the new Chuck equivalent to the Terminator! I’ll still watch, don’t get me wrong, but my fingers will be crossed…

  8. Kyle

I seriously might check this out!! the commercials are working!!!

  9. Kermonk

I never watched Chuck to see him screw up. I watched it to see the gang hang out.

  10. Jeremy

    I’m starting to get exited.

  11. @Mike: “I just can’t get over how much NBC is treating “Chuck” like gold right now! Its hard to believe that just 6 months ago it was on the verge of cancellation, and now the network is depending on its hardcore base!”

NBC completely and utterly underestimated the strength of the internet community’s support for Chuck. NBC know that when they show Chuck in the new year, people will not only tune in to watch it but will make it their must see show to watch that evening.

@Outlander@ “I hope this “new direction” works for them. The promo suggests a pretty dramatic departure for the show. I can’t see any reason that the “new direction” would fail. Until the last five minutes of season 2, Chuck was an everyman, one of “us”. And then he knew “kung fu” and wow, I don’t know about you guys but if season 3 is anything like the last five minutes of season 2, it is going to be awesome. Especially as now, Chuck has absolutely no reason to fear Casey, or Sarah. I wonder if season 3 will do an episode with Casey versus Chuck? :)

  12. Personally, I think that the advertising of Chuck being better this season has a lot to do with Jeff Gaspin. He’s certainly doing a better job than Ben Silverman. Unfortunately, he’s stuck with Silverman’s left overs. Nick C said that getting Gaspin was the one right move Jeff Zucker has made. By the way, where is Nick C? A lot has been happening with NBC, Comcast and Chuck that you would figure he would have something to say right now. What happened to him?

  13. Parenthood, he’s not appearing even on his own blog.

  14. MityQ

NBC has bought into all the hype from the Twitter and Forum Chat Room crowd that saved Chuck. With all the advertising they are putting into it, I would expect that NBC is looking at Chuck having at LEAST, a 2.4 in the demo and grow from there for anykind of success. Failing that, anything less than a 2.4 should be considered as a failure and have Chuck be placed among many of the other scripted NBC shows like Trama and Mercy on the “Likely to be Cancelled in May list”. Looks like Heroes is averaging 2.4 and it’s climbing. If Heroes is still a “possible Cancellation target” as stated by this site, Chuck having anything less than that show have Chuck even higher on this site “Cancellation projection list”.
Chuck is under a lot of pressure to perform and live up to the all the internet hype that was generated last spring. I would think that all the “Save-our-Show” campaigns are about to be judged with Chuck’s results. The CBS show “Jericho” Save-our-show campaign turned out to be a failure, but that is a “fool me once, shame on you” if NBC’s Chuck doesn’t pan out, then it’s “fool me twice, shame on me”. I don’t think that ABC or any other network will buy into this “Save our Show” campaign again.
Chuck season three …. no pressure.

  15. MityQ, NBC is giving Chuck a bigger and better advertising push this season. And with advertising from Winter Olympics, it’s almost a sure bet. Ricardo, that’s what I meant. He has not posted anything on his own blog. What happened to Nick?

  16. akhe

they have us watch commercial to watch commercials

  17. oneeye

Go Chuck! Save NBC, save the world!

  18. Joe

    So happy to see Awesome!!!!

  19. Tim

Glad to see Chuck getting some good advertising!

However, the fact that NBC is pushing the heck out of Chuck is just another sign to me that they don’t have anything else to be excited about for their midseason lineup. Maybe it’s just that Chuck will return in January and not much new is starting til March (after Olympics), but I haven’t seen ANYTHING for any of their other midseason shows. If I didn’t visit this site, I wouldn’t even know what little they have coming.

  20. Ruthie

    “Duck Hunt. Nintendo.”

BWAH! I love how even though Chuck is apparently Mr. Super-Spy now, we’ll still get glimpses of the Geek.

These promos are making me super excited for the next season! :)
