Ok, so you have the two men at a press conference admitting that their experiment might have caused the disaster that took more human lives than any other disaster in history, and you can't dispatch some po-lice to detain them? How dumb do the writers think we are!? Oh. That was the first 10 minutes of FlashForward which I tried to watch online because I'm obviously not nearly as smart as my DVRs.
So here's my question about Dollhouse. The Dollhouse is supposed to be way, way underground, so how come Adelle's office has windows in it that look out onto LA?
My DVR still likes Dollhouse so I watched last night's two hours. I'm not a rabid, rabid, Whedon-can-do-no-wrong kind of fan, and I definitely do not think Dollhouse is the best show on television. There can be only one, and for me, that is currently Sons Of Anarchy (even if it is now off the air until it returns for season 3 in September).
But over time, Dollhouse (and its rabid, radid, Whedon-can-do-no-wrong fans) have really grown on me. I like Dollhouse OK. I still think the best episode was "Epitaph One," the season one episode that could've (and perhaps should've) served as the show's series finale had FOX done the predictable thing and canceled the show last spring.
So "Epitaph One" never made it to the air, but we got another 13 episodes of Dollhouse (complete with an "Epitaph Two" that will air!). There have been some decent episodes this season, but despite the return of Summer Glau I was not blown away by last night's two hours worth of Dollhouse.
But I liked it way more than the FlashForward episode I never got around to finishing and there were two things I really enjoyed about it. I confess, I have a crush on Joss Whedon's brother Jed's wife, Maurissa Tancharoen. And as with all shows, I try to avoid spoilers wherever I can, so I had no idea Mo was making a (sadly) brief appearance as the doll "Kilo" (pictured above). So that was fun.
But the real highlight of last night's two hours, hands down was Enver Gjokaj -- the doll "Victor" -- programmed as Topher so there could be a brainiac back at the LA Dollhouse while the real Topher (and Adelle) traipsed off to my hometown, Washington, D.C.
Enver as Victor as Topher was tremendous. He completely nailed it and it was a joy to watch.
Right after I finished typing this, I saw that Alan Sepinwall wrote his review on last night's two hours worth of Dollhouse. I haven't read it yet, but judging from the headline (Two Tophers for the Price of One), he also thought highly of Enver as Topher.

I think the dollhouses have windows that simulate the outside world.
Enver’s Topher impression was spot on! That’s what I call an excellent actor. Hopefully after Dollhouse concludes he will find another television show to shine in. Last night 2-hour Dollhouse was great. Especially with Alexis Denisof and Eliza Dushku sharing the screen again.
Management’s offices are above ground. They climbed out that window in Epitaph one. I assume it’s just the illegal stuff that’s literally kept underground.
Brandon, that makes sense, and I though I know the scene you speak of in Epitaph One, I didn’t remember it being Adelle’s office. Though it’s a good explanation, it’s definitely an inefficient way to manage the Dollhouse if every visit from management requires a long elevator round trip!
I work in the steel industry, and the management isn’t even in the same building as where all the work gets done. So going down an elevator (probably a really fast one; after all this is the dollhouse) sounds a lot more convenient. I think it’s pretty typical in high-rise office towers for management to be located high up; with special access elevators, and all the other staff are mid to low.
Adelle probably also has an office space in the Dollhouse itself as well.
Robert, the office is upstairs. They make a point of taking the lift up from underground in one episode, and Echo also dangles a character out the window at one point last season.
Loved the episodes. A lot of mythology – but it was also fun and exciting TV.
since when was this website about posting your favorite things about Dollhouse or any show for that matter. Its about the numbers people. This isnt Entertainment Weekly and it sure is becoming it.
Crystal, since you are unhappy, I will gladly refund you the $0.00 you pay for the content.
Crystal , your kind of posts are goin around since several months … so I guess it’s a little bit late to complain
.. and I would say fortunately !
You know Robert, its funny that you have said before to stop the hating but here you are – hating.
you’re just angry because Im right. dont get me wrong, I love dollhouse but this isnt what this site is about.
UH – if you actually knew, I started posting on this site 3 DAYS AGO. So no, it hasnt been several months.
Oh boy….
LOL, Crystal, what am I hating?
BTW, Crystal has been posting for months and under many names. Just today, she’s posted under the monikers “Crystal” and “Holly” and “Hilary” and “Amber” and “Haylie”. But no matter how many names s/he posts under, I’m looking forward to a good SEC Championship game on CBS!
BTW …about your first line of the post … FF…jeezzz really diasppointing !! a good idea destroyed in less then 5 episodes !
Why on earth did you click on this post, Crystal, when the title already gives away its content? Just to complain? If Robert wants to do a post like this, then I do believe it is his right to do so, regardless of your opinion.
Robert, I love when you call people on their aliases!
I watched all of Season 1, but watched Season 2 for the first time last night and I really liked the episodes. It’s not even close to being an elite drama, but it is a fun show and now I really wish it would find a home somewhere.
The reason it won’t though is because Whedon’s one of those guys who won’t sacrifice his “artistic integrity”. (Yes, I referenced a Seinfeld episode in this post) If you only had a few main characters appear each episode (ala soap operas) I’m sure there would be a few networks that could make it financially plausible.
I’m not a fan but I wonder if there’s any chance at all that Fox will allow Joss to make some kind of wrap up made-for-tv movie to tie up the series. Maybe they could do one the way they did with Prison Break: The Final Break straight-to-dvd movie?
