There's been a bit of chatter in the blogosphere about CNN having finished 4th 100 times in 2009 in primetime ratings (behind Fox News, MSNBC, and Headline News) among cable news networks in the target adults 25-54 demo. For those keeping score at home, here's is a chart with the monthly count of the number of times that's happened.
That July goose-egg? CNN has the Michael Jackson death frenzy to thank for that.
CNN is getting strong competition from MSNBC for 4th place honors this month.
Whether they want to admit it or not, CNN is the TMZ of cable news. People only tune in when something scandalous breaks.
What’s happening is that CNN’s viewers are getting angry so they are trying out their sister station HLN.
Angry over what? More like disinterested.
All I heard in my head was that Dylan song that goes like “how does it feel?!”

How long will the current management continue this direction??? What needs to happen before they try a different approach?

Lets not all be so cynical. CNN ratings can go up there are still four Jackson brothers and plenty of celebrities that can still die scandalously. That ought to bring up there ratings then again probably not. Remember CNN is one of the REAL news organizations….not!
Will everyone wake up and realize that most of the people in that demographic get there news via internet or smartphone anyway. Until we can measure the broad way that news is being received by the masses ratings will fall the way of record sales, nespapers, magazines etc. (irelevant)

What does CNN being in Atlanta have to do with the way they run their network?
THE REAL PROBLEM is that CNN is not a “news” network anymore. I stopped watching long ago, as it became more about “opinion” than “news”. HERE’S AN IDEA……become straight news again and lose the opinion. Also cover ALL NEWS STORIES, not just stories that paint liberal thought in a positive light (i.e. ignoring the ACORN scandal, etc…)
CNN….STRAIGHT NEWS ALL THE TIME…..NO MORE FLUFF. Now that’s a station I’d come back to.

Can anyone honestly say that news all through the board hasnt gone opinonated. It’s all about what people want to hear and everyones opinion. Since when did tmz become a credible source for all news media? And it’s not about real news anymore it’s about tiger, Jon and Kate and the kardashians! That’s what people want to see and major cablle news networks follow this bs! It’s a shame the world looks at us and laughs! We gotta do better people

I think CNN international is still doing pretty well and making money. MSNBC is being proped up by it’s parent company.
Oh, AUZZIE just what news has FOX made up? Can you be specific as I would like to check it out. And please cite a specific story. Got to have proof.
