Josef Adalian reports that ABC will air six episodes of the 20th Century Fox Television produced legal drama "The Deep End" Thursdays at 8pm beginning January 21. Still no word on "Happy Town"...
After last Thursday's telecast of "Flash Forward's" fall finale, ABC promoted that the show would return March 4th. Originally, it was set to return in January.
This seems like a "let's throw the 20th Century show to the dogs during the Olympics and do whatever we can to protect Flash Forward" move.
Looking forward to this show, I hope it will be good
ABC Midseason schedule is finally getting clear. Happy Town is the only mystery for now
“The Deep End” is kind of like “Grey’s Anatomy” just with lawyers. And worse writing.
It does have Norbert Leo Butz in it though, so there should be some decent acting!
I’ll bet that “Happy Town” winds up on Tuesdays at 10 or Friday at 9. I’d bet on Tuesdays.
I have a feeling this show is going to tank if it’s airing alongside two other similar series on the same night. I think exposure to “cookie-cutter” shows on the same night is the reason why Parks & Recreation does poorly in the ratings and Private Practice gets modest retention out of Grey’s. If P&R gets lousy ratings despite being the lead-in show to The Office, it’s possible that The Deep End would get similar ratings as the lead-in show to Grey’s.
I’m always give a new show a fair shake. This one could be good, but it does seem to be the least awful option to fill a gap in the schedule.
I was afraid ABC was going to burn off this show. I really liked the promo and I like a lot of the cast. Such a shame.
I’m hoping this will be good. I’m just glad it’s not being destined for a summer burnoff.

The only mid-season ABC show I want to see is Happy Town. It looks AMAZING! I just want to know when I get to watch it! Come on ABC, and PLEASE don’t put it on Friday…you would just kill it before it is born. ABORTION IS BAD!

I too am really looking forward to Happy Town. It sounds like it’ll be similar to Harper’s Island, which I loved.

Speaking of which, does this mean HT is Summer, or Fri 9pm once Shark Tank scraps are over?

2. It’s produced by FOX and not ABC Studios.
3. Only 6 episodes were ordered
= It’s as good as cancelled.
The Deep End feels like a good fit for ABC Thursday and I did say that this is where they should put it. We’ll see what happens ratings wise but it reads like a good compatiable line-up but as we’ve seen with House/Lie To Me that doesn’t always work out as it should.
I wish they showed more support to this show. I think it seems promising.

I actually mentioned a couple of weeks ago that they might do this. It makes sense, its a good programming filler and it looks like all episodes will air. Announced just in time. Now its more likely that Happy Town will share the slot with Castle Mondays at 10pm and that just about completes ABC’s midseason.
Tom – Its liekly Wife Swap will return to fridays once Shark Tank finishes up. I doubt ABC will air Happy Town fridays, I dont see Deep End lasting just because it has 6 eps, but its somethign to use.
