Oh Chuck, I've missed you, but I can see myself turning on you quickly if this gets out of hand. NBC has devised a "reward points" system for promoting Chuck on Twitter, Facebook and Myspace accounts:
Join Mission: Chuck Me Out and earn points by completing daily missions and sharing the greatness of Chuck on Twitter, Facebook, and MySpace.
The Chuck Fan with the most points will win the Grand Prize - having his or her face appear in an episode during one of Chuck's "flashes." And each week the player who earned the most points will win a gift pack with a signed Season 2 DVD from Zachary Levi, a Chuck sweatshirt, and a Chuck messenger bag.

This kind of seems like walking into a church on Sunday and asking people if they've heard about Jesus.
I'm down for the weekly prizes including signed DVDs and a sweatshirt, but I'm torn on the grand prize. It's either the coolest prize ever, or kind of weak. I mean how long do any of the single images stay on screen during one of Chuck's flashes? Like 1/20th of a second?
If you see me on Twitter constantly talking up Chuck, it will be all about the sweatshirt.

So my plan to de-friend anyone with a Glee status after today will have to be changed to Chuck statuses?
lame contest is lame.
people should start comparing chuck to jesus more often
someone want to explain to me the relevance of twitter?
May be annoying, but my son will now be promoting Chuck to a thousand FB friends with little cost to NBC. Some may be Nielson families, and the viral effect could be huge. Annoying – yes. Briiliant – maybe.
Jared, a lot of people use twitter.
You’d be surprised how often annoying translates into turning more people off something than onto it. Or maybe you wouldn’t be surprised at all.
Sometimes annoying works though. Look at Damages on FX. Prior to the series premiere, there were so many ads for Damages on FX that it became annoying. I mean there were pop ups during every show for Damages. It was annoying but it worked. Yes, Damages is low rated now, but that everything to do with the Writers Strike keeping it off for over a year.
I suppose you would be surprised to learn that there is a huge difference between annoying advertising on TV/billboards/radio/etc. and annoying, repetitive spam on Twitter/Facebook/MySpace/etc.
So they’re telling people to spam the hell out of Chuck, which is what they’ll do to win stuff and the grand prize?
I fail to see how that’s different.
Appearing in one of the episodes with a very tiny role with a one liner or something had been a better first prize imho. I am looking forward to be spammed at a lot now but at least I gotta say NBC is trying to promote Chuck in ways that actually may work for it.
Since there is a good chance that there won’t be a 4th season anyway I guess NBC can risk annoying people more than attracting them by this aggressive marketing.
Had you actually gone on the site you would see that you cannot keep earning points for spamming. They limit your point earnings per tweet or FB/MS message.
Seraphim, It’s a probability that Chuck will be back for a 4th season. Gaspin is responsible for this years marketing push.
I hate those annoying pop-up ads a lot more than I would hate a friend recommending that I watch a certain show. They take me out of the moment of enjoying the program I am watching. If you’re on Twitter, you’re already used to repetition, since people ReTweet the same silly jokes over and over and over again. You just learn to scan past the messages you’ve already seen. If you’re following a hundred people or so, it’s not going to become annoying if one or two of them mention that they hope you’ll give Chuck a try.
Oh, boy, I can already see the #Chuck spam filling up my Twitterfeed. Good thing I already like this show.
I agree that this could hurt the cause if people get too frustrated with all their friends tweeting/updating their status about Chuck all the time.
I think being in the Intersect is kind of a lame prize unless they focus on your picture long enough for people to actually recognize it. However, it’s much easier than saying the Grand Prize winner gets to be an extra or have a line or something, because all they need for the Intersect is a PICTURE, so they can just take one off your Facebook profile or whatever.
I have been toying with the idea of picking up “Chuck” as the next show I am going to watch! I don’t know if I can bring myself to watch the new episodes before Dollhouse goes off the air — I really prefer watching one show at a time — but the presence of Firefly’s Adam Baldwin might help me to want to watch earlier!
After the disappointing ratings for Dollhouse, it could be interesting to watch a ratings powerhouse like “Chuck”! I mean, from what I can see from Wikipedia, the last episode went as high as 2.4 with adults 18-49! Wowsers! I tend to gloss over specific numbers when I’m at this site, but that sure seems high!
This “Chuck” show doesn’t already have any super-invested fans, does it?! So I will be bringing something new to the table! I think everyone who knows me knows that when I love something, I give it my all and then some!
Dollhouse! Dollhouse! Dollhouse! Dollhouse rules! “Chuck” might also rule! Dollhouse!
@ joss’s biggest fan,
Chuck has some super dedicated fans, check the chucktv.net forums
Also a 2.4 isn’t great. It’s decent for NBC, but not great. It barely made the cut last year.
I love the fact that NBC is promoting the show so heavily. I think I’ve seen more promos this month for season 3 than I did all of season 2. If this brings more fans to the show then I say bring it on. Although I can see how it can get annoying.
30 days and counting !!!!!!!!!!
JBF, pleasepleasepleaseplease pick Castle!
