OMG OLTL in last place. I had such a feeling it would happen. Why the hell is AMC doing good? The show sucks!!!!!!

  2. DenverDean

How ironic that ATWT moves up, passing OLTL and beating GH on three of the five days. (Plus an increase in demo.) Some reward.

  3. travis in va

I love OLTL and have been watching it since I was a little kid. Its the only soap I watch and I don’t understand why it isn’t doing better. I hope its not the first soap on ABC to be cancelled! Maybe once ATWT is gone ratings will go up since it won’t be there as compitition.

  4. Lisa

I doubt many ATWT viewers at all will go over to OLTL once ATWT is off the air. A lot of them will watch whatever airs in ATWT’s place, though. I expect it to be a game show.

AMC is my long-time favorite. It looks safe for the time being. OTOH, OLTL has long been rumored as on the chopping block at ABC. :( I hope NO more soaps get cancelled, whether or not I currently watch them. All of the current ones have been on the air for more than 20 years and have devoted fans who don’t want to see them go.

  5. How come so many soap operas are being cancelled?

  6. Colcorde

I agree with Lisa. However, if ABC were to cancel OLTL, it would leave a gaping holt in the schedule. I’m surprised OLTL is not doing better. It doesn’t have a high level of violent stories like GH does or insipid and calculated pairings like AMC. Kind of sad, but AMC has been my flagship show, and I really have not invested in it for about five years because of poor writing. OLTL has near-perfect writing and deserves better ratings.

  7. don

i cant believe days lost over 30000 viewers from the previous week but they were still 3rd place in both hh and 3rd among women 18-49 demo they will bounce back with everything going on in salem they will gain back real quick hope is acting like ciara a kid a whinny sap who doesnt deserve bo or justin she deserves to be alone what a bitch grow up hope

  8. don

i am also loving oltl for the gay storyline with hunky openly out actor scott evans who plays cop oliver what a stud there are many stories that the writing team can do with that storyline gay marriage adopting a baby i hope oltl knows it has a talent in scott evans&brett claywell and keeps them going for a long time if anyone wants to read about scott evans hes on the dec/ jan cover of instinct magazine its on newstands now i get it in the mail and out magazine hes in out magazines out 100 too if anyone wants to pick it up so keep the great stories with oliver fish on oltl comings and keep the great work up scott i too live in mass where scott evans was born in sudbury mass i was born 5 miles north of boston and scott is a great role model for the GLBT COMMUNITY A MILLION THANKS SCOTT I TOO AM A GAY 36 YEAR OLD MALE and follow days and oltl

  9. Danny

I predict by 2012 that this category will be down to Y&R, B&B, GH, and Days.

  10. Rob R

DAYS is just returning to its regular viewer levels after peaking for the culmination of the storyline of Sami finding out Nicole stole her baby. This level is where DAYS was about a month ago.

  11. Stephen J

The reason why I think Days went down crashing is because everyone wanted to see Sami finally get her child. They played around with the viewers by having that woman take back the child only to have it taking from her, which will lead to another three month search that people do not want to face.

AMC, I’m surprise is doing well, I love the show whenever I get a chance to watch it. And can’t wait til Greenlee returns. Rebecca is the main reason I’m still watching.

  12. Nino

I must say what is so great about OLTL is they are not cramming the gay thing down viewer’s throats! There is nothing more irritating than every show copying every other show and trying to add “gay” characters even if they are poorly written (paging Y&R). Fish and Kyle are two normal people intertwined in many of the stories. They are just an ordinary couple just like Bo and Nora, except they are a first. I have to say that stupid gay wedding fiasco was kind of irritating sans many of the social messages, but overall this story works. Dorian declaring herself a lesbian was too much and outlandish, but I’m glad now Fish and Kyle are now a normal couple with normal airtime.

  13. david

Days of our never ending story. The baby switch and now the kidnapping… -Days brought Carly Manning to feature Bo and Hope’s boring marital problems? give her good material please!

I hope the rating change soon.

  14. Jesse

AMC is not doing well. Advertisers buy adtime in daytime based SOLELY on the women 18-49 demo…no other ratings measures matter. In that category, AMC is dead last among the ABC soaps.

  15. keith

I too am surprised. AMC seems to be pretty consistent with its ratings upswing every week. And is the #1 rated ABC soap. I am glad GH ratings suck. There celebrity stunt AINT working! OLTL should be hirer.

It seems inevitable to me that AMC ratings will continue to grow little by little. They fired that head writer that EVERYONE seemed to wanted out as Head Writer and are bringing back a head writer who KNOWS her AMC History, which is what this show needs. And with All the big come backs and its 40th anniversarry coming up and its high profile move out to LA. It would not be surprised if it had an episode of OVER 3 million between now and February!

  16. JNewt

I think AMC is next in line for soap of the year in 2010. With the move to LA it could definitely spike to 3 million viewers like DAYS has. Their getting a new head writer so if you feel the show is awful now it should be getting better after they move to LA.

It wouldn’t surprise me one bit if there’s still 6 soaps around in 2013 maybe even 7 if ATWT gets picked up. I feel someone out there is going to rescue the genre instead of letting it die.

  17. Chad

The soap world is dying.. Guiding Light & a year later As The World Turns will be gone… It’s sad…… Looking at the remaining soaps on the air, Y&R has NEVER held an interest to me, to be honest I do not understand why it’s #1! The Bold n Beautiful, though is quality programming… My perdiction is that OLTL will be next, leaving ABC with 2 soaps; and then Days of Our Lives will get the ax!! Watch and see…

  18. Ivan

No surprise about Days of Our Lives, with Jeff Zucker running things over at NBC I don’t expect the soap opera to last much longer. Under him I am sure before long NBC daytime will consist of only The Today Show and court tv shows.

  19. Ilse

That’s just great (sarcastic)! They cancel ATWT, and the next week ratings are up?! Please…someone…save my soap =(

  20. Nathan

Ouch! DAYS took quite a stumble and I’m sure Jeff Zucker was waiting for this for him to drop the ax on it. Not so fast Zucker! DAYS will come back. I mean, it ALREADY HAS! We tied B&B last week at #2 and are now constantly in the top 3. I’m sorry, but it looks like DAYS isn’t going down without a fight!
