Thursday broadcast finals via @TravisYanan.

As expected, the NFL game broadcast locally in Cleveland (NBC) and Pittsburgh (CBS) whacked those network's ratings in the final adjustments.

Also note that CBS' overall 18-49 rating fell to a 3.9 for the night. And while I don't have a number yet, NBC's overall rating fell as well, putting Fox in second place for adults 18-49 for the night since its shows were steady in the final ratings.

Ouch, sad to see Parks and The Office drop like that. But Office still did decently as well as 30 Rock.

  2. RJ

There goes P&R season high in the 18-49 years old. :(
Hopefully it does better in January!

  3. Christopher

CSI and Mentlist did great last night

  4. johnthemon

fudge, I knew it was too good to be true.

Btw, what’s with all the amoebas on this site?

  5. Tom

@jon: I dunno, it is like Gravatar is enticing people to sign up by giving them ugly-as-sin avatars otherwise.

Still one of the highest 30 Rock ratings of the season with GA out of the way.

  6. JustTunedIn

I’m starting to REALLY like Community. It’s become must see tv for me. (Or atleast must catch up on later tv).

  7. Tom

Jay beat Parks and Recreation. That’s gotta hurt.

  8. Pity that tvbythetotalviewersdonotmatterbytheneumbers.com is too unwieldy…

  9. Jon K.

The browns game was on NBC in the claveland area.

  10. Jon K., thanks, I had them reversed. Fixed now.

  11. Roland

So only 700K people in the WKYC viewing area watched the Browns game? I sorta find that hard to believe.

  12. Roland, There’s a lot more that goes into the translation from preliminary > final ratings than just removing the local numbers, so simple calculations like just comparing say the preliminary and final Office viewership (which perhaps you did) are not sufficient to figure out local viewership. I don’t think its possible to do it at all just using these numbers.

  13. Besides for Bill’s point, considering there are only 1.5 mil TV households in the Cleveland DMA, I don’t think it’s hard to believe at all.

  14. nemo

    newbie guy question,,,
what’s the difference between a 96% coverage to 98% coverage

  15. nemo, its the % of all the US TV households that carried that broadcast. NBC was lower than usual last night because it had a local affiliate in Cleveland carrying the Steelers/Browns game. Not sure why CBS (which had the same in Pittsburgh) wasn’t reduced too.

  16. one other issue in not being able to truly deduce local market viewing from these numbers: if you were in Cleveland or Pittsburgh and watched the game on NFL Network rather than the local affiliates, it would not have counted in the viewing on the local affiliate.

  17. Didn’t someone in the overnights post say that Cleveland doesn’t have access to NFL Network?

  18. CTTS

Even if it’s not on cable in Cleveland, it’s on the dishes, in bars, and so on.

  19. j

Good to see Mentalist behind Glee for the week. So out of the shows that have come in the last 3 seasons, based on their respective last ep, only Bang & Modern Family beat Glee.

  20. Schmoker

A large number of TWC subscribers live in NE Ohio, and TWC doesn’t carry the NFL network (along with a lot of other things). There are some pockets where Cox or Comcast customers have it, I believe, but most of the area does not. I know this because I bitch about it to sometimes patient customer service people here in Akron where I live.

Still decent numbers for all four comedies; at least at NBC’s reduced standards. Unless they have a lot of shows up their sleeves that we don’t know about, Thursday could come back unchanged next season. Although I would like to see 30 Rock and Parks flip flop.
