I was a bit surprised, but somewhat pleased, to see Adelle turn bad – or “badder” – again. They seem to be fighting over the characterization of these characters.

Having Echo finally appear to be developing a consistent and engaging personality – even while dealing with multiple personalities – is what they should have done from episode one of season one. Having Echo working directly and closely with Ballard is also what should have been done from day one.

And I’ve been thinking about Summer’s performance – isn’t it weird that even cast as a sadistic psychotic torturer she’s STILL ADORABLE? I don’t know many actresses who could pull off that combo!

The take-home lesson, network execs? Leave well enough alone. FOX did not learn that lesson, hence why they are now a pathetic fourth on Friday nights.

The show had a dozen chances… lasted two seasons longer than most would have let it; it aired on CBS and MTV in special airings; they even got to put together that VM:FBI thing which was one of the worst pieces of television I’ve ever seen. Season 3 also became a meandering mess with a lead character that was annoying with no reason (at least the excellent Season 1 had a reason for her bitterness), and long stretches where the characters I actually cared about (Dick, Weevil, Wallace, Mac, Lamb, etc.) were largely absent. Toward the end it got less than 2 million viewers, at a time when other CW shows weren’t doing that badly. Canning VM was one of the few choices Dawn O. made that I back 100%.

But if it does get 2.2 million viewers… especially for a repeat on friday nights… it’d be awesome! Dawn Ostroff would probably kill herself.

Don’t count your chickens before they’re hatched. All the folks at Medium thought the same thing last season. I was actually told by several members of the crew a month before the upfronts that the show would be back. And then NBC pulled the rug out from under them. Thank goodness CBS had the good sense to pick it up. Don’t trust NBC one iota.

While your guess sort of make sense, the only thing I would argue is that numbers seem to go up from 1.0/2 to 1.3/2 from 8 -> 9. If the show lost 300k viewers you figure that number would have went down.

Hopefully Zap2it is right, it would be pretty cool if a SV repeat broke 2M, although it might give Dawn the idea to move it to Friday’s at 9 in the future…lol

However, it has gotten better since the return.

Especially since Zap2It said The CW averaged 1.4 for the night… 1.5 plus 2.2 don’t make 1.4.

That, coupled with amazing season + positive overall Smallville coverage (Especially this site) + SV movie event + the new sets CW/Smallville just purchased + failure of Melrose/TBL (AKA Dawn’s strategy) make season 10 incredibly solid looking.

But don’t worry, it’s a freaking repeat. Dawn Ostroff won’t cancel the show if we reported the numbers wrong and it’s not like we spit on your mother.

They were two separate episodes, and the first ep averaged 1.5 million, second one 2.2 million. Even if you average it out, its more than the 1.36 million viewers you wrongly put in the article.

The Dollhouse technology like the Stargate has so many avenues to get stories both series should have really been able to do much better than the very limited few ideas used so far. I mean really a person could be instantly trained to do anything using the Dollhouse programing and using the Stargate any universe imagined could be visited making story telling unlimited in both cases, yet both shows are or have died on the vine so to speak.

The 8 PM repeat had 1.5 million viewers with a 1.0/2

And a 2.0 demo on CW, even if not the 18-34 distaff Dawn wants, would cause frabjous celebrations at CW HQ

Dollhouse on The CW would fail more than an overly botoxed Heather Locklear. It’s just not a concept that 98% of the TV audience cares for. Time to move on. Everyone else has.

Actually I do know the cost of the show with the in house production costs and the NY incentive factored in, it’s still tipping against UB. ABC is basically sucking it up and just trying to keep it’s tattered viewership intact until the big finale. With a repeat against it this was just a classic dead cat bounce.

So the copy at Fox HQ they sent to all their affiliates must have been bad? I haven’t seen that level of egregious failure on a broadcaster’s part since CBS aired portions of an episode of Robbery Homicide Division out of order a decade ago.

I liked the first episode of Dollhouse last night, didn’t enjoy the second (despite it being the kind of thing that others seem to like in a way I don’t.) Not sure if the ratings suggest people agreed with me, or whether they all didn’t like the first episode and promptly didn’t bother with the second. I’m surprised the ratings grew, I didn’t think the beginning of the first really formed much of an introduction for new viewers, so I suppose people must have told their friends about the stunning episodes last week and that might have explained the growth.

I’d be fairly surprised if that changed, since the conventional wisdom is that the only financial upside for CBS & WB in the CW is that it creates value for the shows they each produce.
