Taylor-Lautner-SNL

Saturday Night Live hosted by Taylor Lautner and featuring musical guest Bon Jovi averaged a 5.1/12 rating/share in the metered-market households -- the highest metered market rating so far this season (full info, including viewers and age demographics will not be available until Thursday).

It was the number one program of the night on the major networks, besting everything in prime-time.  Not a surprise as SNL has been the top Saturday night show on the broadcast networks, including prime-time and excluding sports going all the way back to last March.

Week five of Fox's The Wanda Sykes Show at 11 p.m. averaged a 1.6/3 in metered-market households, up a tenth of a point versus last week's lowest-yet 1.5/3.  The show premiered with a 2.1/4 on November 7.  Mad TV averaged a 2.0/4  in the fourth quarter last year.

    How about overall viewers?

  2. how about reading the post?

  3. George

    How about…….I got nothing.

  4. Robert, as an educated guess what would a 5.1 be likely to have in terms of total viewers? Is it likely that SNL would have passed 10,000,000 viewers?

  6. you can’t really guess at viewers from household rating because different shows have different number of people per household watching. But if it holds up (metered markets are preliminary numbers) it means 5.1 percent of 114.9 million homes, so about 5.86 million homes. My guess would be somewhere around 7.5 million. I think the previous high this year was ~6.8 million.

Meh Host, Awesome Musical Guest!!! Bon Jovi Rocked! Glad to see it did well this episode!

  8. Why did Fox even cancel madTV?

Bon Jovi? Not my cup of tea and Taylor? As it is so close to Christmas, he was quite the happy and gay host! Color me unimpressed with Sat’s episode.

Kristen Wiig is that whole show. Maybe it should be called the “Kristen Wiig Show” or maybe she should just break out and go save FOX TV on Saturday nights????

    Bizarro,
Totally agree with you on Kristen Wiig. Steals every scene she is in!

Too bad it was the worst SNL episode I’ve seen in a long time. Maybe 2 funny skits at the most. They use these featured players far too often. I know it would get repetitive, but I really enjoy Hader, Wiig, Sudekis, Sambers, Forte, and Armisen. Too bad they are used poorly when they are used at all (save for Wiig… man, she’s great).

Did anyone else hear Nova in the audience hollering:
    “taylor…taylor”.

  14. Marc

The skits were horrible. Bon Jovi saved the episode.

  15. Ren

SNL should hire better writers and not these amature ones they have now. Didn’t laugh once except for Kristen Wiig (comedy gold as always!)

i don’t watch SNL much. i think 3 full episodes in 5 years. 2004 (Janet Jackson), 2007 (Peyton Manning) and this past week with Lautner only cause i like all 3 of them

Wiig is she the lady who played the in the Christmas/pregnancy and Twilight/debate skits?

  17. Major Mike

The show is so unfunny people watch every week just to see how bad it tanks. Wasn’t disappointed this week it was about as painful as I imagine child birth to be.

I only watched it for Taylor… and I thought he did a great job!

It’s also #4 on iTunes. The second-most downloaded ep this week…shocker. Taylor Swift.

I’d love for someone to corner Lorne Michaels and force him to answer the question “What is the deal with your writers?” They’re consistently bottom of the barrel, talentless hacks.
