Due to the nature of live sports programming the ratings for NBC (Sunday Night Football) and CBS (NFL overrun) are approximate and subject to significant revisions in the final numbers. See below for more information on these Fast Affiliate Ratings.

Of course, Sunday Night Football & NBC won the Sunday night ratings as usual, as NBC averaged a 5.7 adults 18-49 rating on the night, far ahead of second place CBS' 2.9 rating, which was itself boosted by an NFL overrun. ABC's Christmas In the White House special did a 2.8 adults 18-49 rating, lower than the season average for Brothers & Sisters (of 3.17).
NBC’s Sunday Night Football Game 14: Eagles vs. Giants delivered a 7.0 adults 18-49 rating/17 share from 830-11p, on par with last week’s Game 13 (Vikings vs. Cardinals) which posted a 6.8/16 in the Fast Nationals before rising to a 7.8/19 from 8:31-11:16p in the Finals.
Against a close SNF game with popular teams and no NFL overrun, the Fox line up suffered compared to their last original telecasts on 11/29. The Simpsons was down 23% to a 3.2 adults 18-49 rating. The Cleveland Show fell 9% to a 3.0 rating. Family Guy dropped 14% to a 3.8 rating. American Dad was down 6% to a 3.1 rating.
ABC's Extreme Makeover: Home Edition was up 3% from last week to a 3.1 rating. CBS' lineup was a jumble with the NFL overrun, you can see the preliminary half hours in the table below, but making comparisons is a bit difficult until the final ratings are out this afternoon.

Definitions:
Fast Affiliate Ratings: These first national ratings, including demographics, are available at approximately 11 AM (ET) the day after telecast, and are released to subscribing customers daily. These data, from the National People Meter sample, are strictly time-period information, based on the normal broadcast network feed, and include all programming on the affiliated stations, sometimes including network programming, sometimes not. The figures may include stations that did not air the entire network feed, as well as local news breaks or cutaways for local coverage or other programming. Fast Affiliate ratings are not as useful for live programs and are likely to differ significantly from the final results, because the data reflect normal broadcast feed patterns. For example, with a World Series game, Fast Affiliate Ratings would include whatever aired from 8-11PM on affiliates in the Pacific Time Zone, following the live football game, but not game coverage that begins at 5PM PT. The same would be true of Presidential debates as well as live award shows and breaking news reports.
Rating: Estimated percentage of the universe of TV households (or other specified group) tuned to a program in the average minute. Ratings are expressed as a percent.
Share (of Audience): The percent of households (or persons) using television who are tuned to a specific program, station or network in a specific area at a specific time. (See also, Rating, which represents tuning or viewing as a percent of the entire population being measured.)
Time Shifted Viewing – Program ratings for national sources are produced in three streams of data – Live, Live+Same Day (Live+SD) and Live+7 Day. Time shifted figures account for incremental viewing that takes place with DVRs which are currently in approximately 24.4% of all U.S. TV households. Live+Same Day (Live+SD) include viewing during the same broadcast day as the original telecast, with a cut-off of 3:00AM local time when meters transmit daily viewing to Nielsen for processing. Live+7 Day ratings include incremental viewing that takes place during the 7 days following a telecast.

At the minute, all NBC have going for them is NFL and TO.
And the Obama haters-came running in,la la la la,it is Christmas!!!
A little surprised Fox was so soft, considering all of their shows were new last night.
Well to be honest, NBC doesn’t really have football going for them except in the ratings. They make some profit on the games, but its not huge compared to the price they have to pay to the NFL for having hte rights to the games.
Oprah had little promotion, and a LATE timeslot for a family-friendly show.
In New York at least, there was not a second Simpsons at 8:30. It was the Cleveland Show.
Copasetic, I think probably some copy paste anomaly; it should be Simpsons, The Cleveland Show, Family Guy, American Dad. And I’m sure soon enough it will be. The numbers are right for the timeslots, though, it’s just the show titles that are off for 8:30 and 9p
I think there’s a mistake in the data – there WAS a new episode of The Cleveland Show at 8:30pm, followed by Family Guy at 9pm.
Copasetic, indeed, it was my bad copy/paste that jumbled the Fox show titles at 8:30 and 9p. Now fixed.
I was watching DEXTER on showtime at 9pm. Just AMAZING. A classic water cooler ending!

“Oprah had little promotion…”
Oprah’s White House Christmas Special had TONS of promotion. Its high-profile sendoff was that State Dinner at which Oprah’s absence and the absence of the ABC news anchor (both stunt absences, IMO) were very conspicuously noted in the press.
I guess it was supposed to give Oprah and ABC the appearance of some sort of um… “journalistic” (gag) objectivity. And ever since then there had been very heavy promotion and hard sell of the special
It was a really good night on Fox. Especially The Simpsons and Family guy. The Simpsons was awesome, best ep of the season!!!
the simpsons was outstanding last night!, i liked the parody of southpark and almost everything from it so i’m wondrin’ why is the ratings kind of low?. it’s the best episode of the 21st season for me so far
When will Renew/Cancel be coming?
Where is a good place to catch HBO and Showtime numbers? Im interested to see how Dexter did last night. What a great finale!
Frick/John, “When will Renew/Cancel be coming?” Tuesday afternoon or evening Eastern time, as usual.
On Tuesday, like always, Frick.
The outstanding numbers from ‘Sunday Night Football’ (likely to increase once finals come out) should be enough to propel NBC to another weekly victory in A18-49. Good news that all the nets stayed above 2.0 in the demo too.

oprahs special was… a complete bore. less interviewing, more touring the white house at christmas
they spent such little time on the actual white house at christmas.
Like i had mentioned they shouldve had the simpsons ep after a leadin nfl game on a FOX DH week….wouldve done so much better.
