The two-hour finale of  “X-Factor” averaged 15.62m  Sunday night on ITV1 according to preliminary numbers.  Viewing peaked  at 19.7 million as the result was announced.

Those numbers might not sound huge compared to the ratings in the United States for an NFL game or “American Idol” or “NCIS,” but when you consider the population in the UK is about 1/5th the size of the US population, those numbers are impressive.  Very impressive.
