Adult Swim

Leading all ad-supported cable networks in total day delivery of adults 18-34, adults 18-24 and men 18-24, Adult Swim earned significant delivery growth compared to the same weekly time period last year.  Adults 18-34 delivery (463,000) expanded by 8% and ratings (0.7) by 17%.  Men 18-34 delivery (302,000) jumped by 20% and ratings (0.9) by 29%.  And men 18-24 delivery (169,000) improved by 4% and ratings (1.2) by 9%.

Among its original programming stand-outs, Metalocalypse (Sunday, 12:30 a.m.) attracted adults 18-34 delivery (569,000) gains of 9% and men 18-34 delivery (481,000) of 29%.  Additionally, adults 18-34 delivery (569,000) grew by 9%, adults 18-49 delivery (755,000) by 14% and men 18-49 delivery (621,000) by 44%.  The Venture Bros. (Sunday, 12 a.m.) posted solid gains among adults 18-34 delivery (665,000/up 6%), men 18-34 delivery (527,000/up 28%), men 18-24 delivery (333,000/up 2%), adults 18-49 delivery (896,000/up 12%) and men 18-49 delivery (683,000/up 36%).

Family Guy on Monday nights (11 p.m.) also earned across-the-board delivery gains—adults 18-34 delivery (1,020,000) increased by 24%, adults 18-24 delivery (548,000) by 9%, men 18-34 delivery (573,000) by 20%, men 18-24 delivery (307,000) by 1%, adults 18-49 delivery (1,454,000) by 32% and men 18-49 delivery (821,000) by 22%.  And the BBC version of The Office (Friday, 12 a.m.) scored double-digit delivery growth among adults 18-34 (276,000/up 36%), men 18-34 (146,000/up 22%), adults 18-49 (361,000/up 11%) and men 18-49 (203,000/up 25%).

TNT

TNT’s The Closer and new series Men of a Certain Age took honors as ad-supported cable’s top two entertainment programs last week.

  • The Closer was first among viewers (6.2 million) and households (4.6 million), followed by Men of a Certain Age (5.4 million viewers; 4.1 million households).
  • As reported last week, Men of a Certain Age burst out of its starting gate as ad-supported cable’s top new series launch of 2009 among households and adults 25-54.

TNT continues to score with its coverage of the 2009-10 NBA regular season, averaging a 1.2 national household rating, up 20% over the first 16 games of the 2008-09 NBA season (1.0 national household rating).  In addition, total viewers are up 22% (1,877,000 vs. 1,533,000), while households are up 21% (1,421,000 vs. 1,177,000).

TNT’s NBA coverage continues to enjoy significant increases in key demos:

  • Adults 18-34:  +25%  620,000 in 2009 vs. 497,000 in 2008
  • Adults 18-49:  +17%  1,045,000 vs. 896,000
  • Adults 25-54:  +19%  932,000 vs. 784,000
  • Men 18-34:  +27%  463,000  vs. 364,000
  • Men 18-49:  +21%  753,000 vs. 623,000
  • Men 25-54:  +26%  673,000 vs. 534,000

TBS

TBS’s Lopez Tonight continued to run strong in its fifth week, averaging 1.2 million viewers.  The show remains a major hit among multicultural viewers, with 34% of its adult 18-49 delivery Hispanic and 21% African-American.

Tyler Perry’s House of Payne and Meet the Browns delivered ad-supported cable’s top three sitcom telecasts for the week.  Leading the pack was the Wednesday 10 p.m. episode of House of Payne, which was watched by 2.8 million viewers.

CARTOON NETWORK:
Cartoon Network’s original animated action-adventure series Ben 10: Alien Force (Friday, 8:30 p.m.) continued to show double-digit delivery and ratings gains among kids 2-11 and boys 2-11, compared to the same time period last year.  Kids 2-11 delivery (890,000) increased by 18% and ratings (2.2) by 16%.  Boys 2-11 delivery (731,000) improved by 20% and ratings (3.5) by 21%.

Saturday morning’s fantasy-adventure block CrushZone (7:30-9:30 a.m.) charted solid gains among older kids 9-14 and boys 9-14.  Compared to the same time period last year, kids 9-14 average delivery (306,000) grew by 7% and ratings (1.3) by 8%.  Boys 9-14 average delivery (278,000) increased by 19% and ratings (2.2) by 16%.


truTV

truTV continued its march toward a record year for the network, last week scoring outstanding primetime growth when compared to the same week a year ago.  The network was up 13% among total viewers, 8% among adults 18-49, 6% among adults 25-54, 9% among men 18-49 and 5% among men 25-54.

The week was sparked by superb performances from Operation Repo (Monday 10-10:30 p.m.) and Full Throttle Saloon (Tuesday, 10-11 p.m.), both of which ranked among cable’s Top 5 entertainment programs for their time periods among men 18-49 (Operation Repo - 568,000; Full Throttle Saloon - 503,000).  Operation Repo also scored a Top 5 time-period ranking among men 18-34 (288,000).

truTV’s new hit series Conspiracy Theory with Jesse Ventura was watched by 1.6 million viewers in its second week.  It delivered 5% growth among adults 18-49 (806,000) when compared to the series premiere the prior week.
