OMGGG OLTL hit a new low with WOmen 18-49. Thats really not good.
atwt a 2.0 for 2 days omg i have not seen tat in a long time go atwt go out with a bang oltl still down it sucks cause this is the best soap tha i have seen it so sad
Phew…Days are back ON again! what happened the prior week? weird
The Sharon/Nick/Adam triangle is driving Y&R right now. That is the reason for the ratings going up.
This is just insane! The week CBS announces they’re pulling the plug on ATWT, the ratings go UP! What bad timing!
Go As the World Turns!! If they keep this up, maybe they will get picked up by another Network…maybe Lifetime!!
Why’s GH rating so bad?
Good to see Days up, but the baby Grace/baby Sydney storyline seems to have an unexpected effect…it has taken on a life of it’s own past the initial duplicitous actions of Nicole and Dr. Baker. Credit must go to the acting of Arianne Zucker, who can make us believe her lies, even when we, the viewers, know better. We see the truth as it plays out, yet we are taken in by the mult-ifaceted character as she spins her web. Are her tears real? Is her crazed plan to create the family of her dreams justified? Is she a selfish manipulator, or a selfless mother who would go to any lengths for the love of a child? How can we blame husband EJ for being duped, when we ourselves are taken in, even though we’ve known her every step. Part of me wants her to get her come-uppance, and the other part wants to see her dream of a happy family come true…but of course it can’t, because she is living in a dream…Days writers have woven a great story, and all the actors involved, including James Scott and Alison Sweeney as well as Zucker, deserve a standing ovation.
The ATWT gains are statistically insignificant. The numbers are still bad. Besides, everything was up this week in households, but ATWT was still the worst performer of the CBS lineup, all around. And with those low ratings, no one will be clamoring to pick up the show elsewhere. If it could gain every week for an extended period, it would stand a chance. But it’s almost certain to drop back down within the next few weeks.
I think the best it can realistically hope for is to have a graceful ending. There’s plenty of time to prepare for it.
I hope the promos for AMC’s upcoming 40th anniversary help it out in January.
Yes AMC beat the GH again. All I nned is for OLTL to beat GH and my soap life is complete. Everyone wants to see how the writers exit out Zach and how Greenlee will return. Watch out Days 2010 will be the year of All My Childern.
thank you for posting soap ratings. that is what brought me to this site and i enjoy it a lot now.
Glad they are all up. PHEW! Love this genre.
With Days doing well (In relation of course) you have to wonder if the upswing continues will NBC play hero to the soap world and save ATWT? Think about the huge publicity from doing this and think about how ATWT fans would feel towards NBC & DAYS. The two shows have similar styles, both being set in small towns in the midwest(ish). Of course nothing can really be said of this unless both shows manage to pick up more viewers over the next few months
I am curious. What effect does Soap Net have on the ratings? I know of more than one home where Soap Net is the prime time viewing on at one of the TVs.
hey lisa…
way to kill the buzz.
What a shame OLTL’s quality doesn’t reflect in its ratings. I guess when that two-faced producer Jill Farren-Phelps turned our beloved General Hospital into General Hitmen (equipped with pushing Genie Francis and many favorite actors out the door and squashing the Q clan) it was inevitable one of the other ABC soaps would pass it up. It’s just ironic it was AMC, considering it was labelled “Most Disappointing Show of 2009″ by Soap Opera Digest. I just hope AMC and OLTL avoid the axe.
Lisa: As bitter as what you said was it’s ver realistic
I like that comment about 2010 being the year of AMC…The reason being I actually think that may be a true statement!!!
For one, AMC is one of the only shows too being on a constant upswing. 2 One of the MOST-hated head writers in History of ALL soap operas was just fired, and hopefully some writing and storytelling improvements will be made!!! I said this before, ALL the former cast members returning in January and it having its 40th Anniversary as well, I seriously would not be surprised if AMC passed days in the new year in ratings. If it dont, I have a feeling it will at least hit the 3 million viewer mark again!
And also notice, AMC is NOT in dead last place in the key 18-49 demo, which someone keeps throwing out there week after week as most important thing.
So no matter how ya spin, AMC has been gaining. Period. And not just a week when ALL soaps had a ratings boost, but for the past SEVERAL SEVERAL weeks.
AND IF YOU NOTICE, All My Children had the SMALLEST ratings improvement from the previous week, and STILL solidly secured the number 4 SPOT!!!!!!!
I’m a BIG ATWT fans, but the only reason that ratings are way up this week is ATWT’s cancellation. The news of the cancellation made people watch ATWT, who normally don’t watch it. And that news affected not only ATWT, but every soap…except for OLTL. OLTL didn’t go up that much (compared to the other soaps), because it crosses ATWT.
This all sounds very negative, but I just don’t want you to get your hopes up. Next week ratings will probably go down again…
Great to see all the shows higher. I don’t think it matters that much who is dead last when the bottom 4 shows only have about 200m viewers difference between 4th and 7th. Although I haven’t been a loyal fan to ATWT (or any show now) for 10 years, I will always have a special place in my heart for the dark horse. Not only do I want it to recover, I want it to succeed beyond anything anyone can imagine so that someone can shove that down CBS throats!!!
I’m pretty sure the news of the cancellation of ATWT (BY CBS) is what why the show got more viewers last wk. I’m pretty sure it’s gonna finish it’s run on CBS w/ good ratings hoping that NBC picks it up!
