The Futon Critic reports that Sons of Tucson will now premiere on Sunday, March 14 at 9:30ET/PT while The Cleveland Show will keep the 8:30p slot.

FOX originally had schedule Tuscon for the 8:30 slot and had planned to shift Cleveland to the 9:30.

P.S.  Yeah, all the schedule machinations on a Friday afternoon with dribbling the info out rather than just releasing it is annoying, but it's an annoying quirk that isn't limited to just FOX.

Another way to show FOX has no faith, instead of sandwiching a good looking seres, Sons of Tucson at 8:30 bewtween Simpsons and Family Guy, they move it to 9:30 a la The War at Home. Looks like Tucson will have to rely on Family Guy’s lead in.

  2. They started dribbling out the info Wednesday, so it can hardly be considered the normal Friday dribble. ;)

  3. was referring to the practice of dribbling the information out over several days until the whole schedule has been dribbled out…not the Friday aspect. Though that isn’t especially rare either. Leaking or releasing info when hardly anybody is around to read it is very popular in the TV world, and it’s not just limited to bad news.

Wile I thought 1 of the two might happen. Id dint think FOX would do both. Then again, Idol would work better airing against competetion like Criminal Minds, SVU, and Modern Family/Cougar Town rather then the lower rated 8:00 shows. Human Target could work against Mercy, Middle, and Christine/Gary so it makes sense. Not sure why FOX moved Sons, but they probably thought it best to keep the 90 minute comedy lineup and then follow it with a live action comedy. I hope Sons succeeds into the fall, so FOX can have some live action. Til Death has 30 episodes left, and they wont be airing this spring, so possibly in the summer.

Where does that leave American Dad?

Sorry guys nothing to do with this topic. But it is a sad day on tv with Charles gibbson leaving ABC news and nancy Odell leaving access Hollywood

    Is FOX bored today?

  8. Chrisjozo, 1/24-3/7 American Dad will run in the 9:30p slot. After that, it was originally planned for SOT to be there (and now Cleveland Show) and according to FOX, American Dad will “return at a later date”

With the stuff that Fox has put out today I guess they arent going to be watching Dollhouse tonight!!!

Yeah, its even more likely every episode of American Dad airing from 1/31-3/7 will all be originals. If FOX wanst to air the 100th episode this season then they have 6 more episodes left over likely from April-May. So its possible Sons will either just run around 6-7 episodes or American Dad will air at 7:30 when it returns should Sons be successful.

    Thanks Robert.

I think it would have been better to find a potentially permanent time slot for Sons of Tuscon instead of putting it where it really doesn’t belong.

The problem with any live action comedy on Fox (at least of the 30 minute format) is that they don’t really have anywhere to put it where its a natural fit. I don’t think 8:30 is a much better slot than 9:30 and frankly if I were a show runner I think I’d prefer the Family Guy lead-in to The Simpsons lead-in at this stage.

Maybe next year Fox should put some serious effort into launching a Friday comedy block. Sitcoms are relatively cheap and studios will churn them out for the syndication dollars. If Sons catches on it can hold the night together and they could in theory shift one of the animated shows (probably American Dad) over to Friday nights as well. It can’t possibly do worse than Dollhouse… can it?

Moving “American Dad” out of its timeslot will kill it, Airing “Sons Of Tucson” after “The Simpsons” is definitely a great place to premiere a new show, look how well “The Cleveland Show” is doing, But we must keep in mind that Sunday has VERY strong competition with “Sunday Night Football”, “Desperate Housewives” & “The Amazing Race” also ruling their networks.
