ABC and CBS split the adults 18-49 honors, and NBC had the most viewers, mostly on the back of reruns of the classic Frosty the Snowman and Frosty Returns. Other than an hour of Frosty, CBS aired repeats of Medium and Numb3rs.
Dollhouse, the only non-repeat scripted fare on the broadcast nets for the night slipped to new lows with adults 18-49. At least the fans who stuck around got a great couple of episodes (particularly "The Attic" from 9pm-10pm).
ABC ran Supernanny (which was beaten by a repeat of Law & Order) and two hours worth of 20/20.

Definitions:
Fast Affiliate Ratings: These first national ratings, including demographics, are available at approximately 11 AM (ET) the day after telecast, and are released to subscribing customers daily. These data, from the National People Meter sample, are strictly time-period information, based on the normal broadcast network feed, and include all programming on the affiliated stations, sometimes including network programming, sometimes not. The figures may include stations that did not air the entire network feed, as well as local news breaks or cutaways for local coverage or other programming. Fast Affiliate ratings are not as useful for live programs and are likely to differ significantly from the final results, because the data reflect normal broadcast feed patterns. For example, with a World Series game, Fast Affiliate Ratings would include whatever aired from 8-11PM on affiliates in the Pacific Time Zone, following the live football game, but not game coverage that begins at 5PM PT. The same would be true of Presidential debates as well as live award shows and breaking news reports.
Rating: Estimated percentage of the universe of TV households (or other specified group) tuned to a program in the average minute. Ratings are expressed as a percent.
Share (of Audience): The percent of households (or persons) using television who are tuned to a specific program, station or network in a specific area at a specific time. (See also, Rating, which represents tuning or viewing as a percent of the entire population being measured.)
Time Shifted Viewing – Program ratings for national sources are produced in three streams of data – Live, Live+Same Day (Live+SD) and Live+7 Day. Time shifted figures account for incremental viewing that takes place with DVRs which are currently in approximately 24.4% of all U.S. TV households. Live+Same Day (Live+SD) include viewing during the same broadcast day as the original telecast, with a cut-off of 3:00AM local time when meters transmit daily viewing to Nielsen for processing. Live+7 Day ratings include incremental viewing that takes place during the 7 days following a telecast.

Leno beat a repeat….just like they said.
“The Attic” 9 pm episode of ‘Dollhouse’ was one of the best hours of television in the past year. Superb crafting of suspenseful storytelling. And no sound/audio interruption this week too.
I can’t wait for ‘Dollhouse’ to return in January and finish this very compelling storyline.
Talk about a depressing night for TV.
Poor Dollhouse. “The Attic” was one of the best hours of TV I’ve seen in a while. Just superb.
I’ve given up on Dollhouse. Living in the U.K., I find it really annoying having to wait on the videos to load. I’ll wait for the DVD, and who knows, if it sells well maybe FOX will renew it, a la Family Guy.
I echo (pun intended) some of the other posters: The Attic was definitely one of the best hours on television in the past year (possibly the past FEW years), quintessential Whedonesque. Pure joy to watch. Shame about the show being canceled now, but then again, we might have no gotten such a leap in the pace of things had Whedon not foreseen the demise of the show. I am definitely going to enjoy the remaining three eps in January, and I suspect DH will become somewhat of a cult show a-la Firefly before too long.
MNIS – agreed. There’s a lot of stuff going on right now that they should have done in the first season, such as giving Echo a personality. It’s getting better, but it’s too late, and the viewers have already left.
Seems like Leno can beat repeats on CBS, not just ABC!
Does anyone know if Wife Swap got better ratings than Supernanny last season? Plus, has the ratings for Supernanny fallen from last year. If not, why can’t ABC find some other unscripted programming to place in the slot? True Beauty 2.0 anyone?
Dollhouse was amazing last night. Mostly the second hour, but both were good. “The Attic” has got to be the best episode of the series so far. I wasnt sad to see this show go, but now I am. I hope we get a proper end where we see the evil co. go down.
i must say Leno had a good week this week. Also repeats of the Vampie Diaries did good for the CW this week.
I love Frosty the Snowman!
and on a different issue, I happened to watch the second hour of 20/20, and I find the narrative of that show to be problematic, to say the least and quite disturbing. That is exactly why I refrain from watching these type of shows.
How could reruns of That Awful Vampire Show get so close to Dollhouse in the 18-49 ratings?! In fact, I bet among some demographic or another, That Awful Vampire Show Rerun actually did better than a new episode of Dollhouse! The nerve! I mean, clearly it’s an obvious ripoff of Buffy, but still! I am going to start calling that monstrosity “VD” which I bet no one has ever thought to do before!
For the love of Joss, why is FOX such a terrible network?! They should all be sent to the Attic! My current prediction is that this winter FOX is going to crash and burn! No one’s going to watch that awful singing competition show again! Once Dollhouse ends, all FOX will have going for it is the episode of “Glee” that Joss is directing! But can a major network get by with just one blessed hour of TV like that?!
Dollhouse! Dollhouse! Dollhouse! Dollhouse rules! “VD” drools! Dollhouse!
Joss’ Biggest Fan: The Vampire Diaries were written before Buffy even existed.
John, I hope you’re not taking JBF seriously.
If you guys bought the first season of Dollhouse and watched the unaired pilot episode, you could see Joss wanted to build Echo’s personality right away. Instead of her remembering her real name at the end of the season in Omega when she gets back into the Dollhouse, she recalls it right at the end of the first episode. But, apparently, that pilot episode was garbage and couldn’t have been broadcast. I strongly disagree because it set up the entire situation nicely, and established that Echo was not like the rest. And for that I can blame Fox, and will. That one course of action decimated any chance the show had at actually being what it is now in the early stages.
Having said that, I absolutely loved “The Attic.” Lawrence Dominic is probably my favorite character and seeing Reed Diamond again was nice (my favorite Castle episode this season is the one he showed up in). And now the anti-Rossom army is building! It reminds me of Terminator Salvation though. The Resistance: LA Branch. Can’t wait to see it finish out.
Does anyone?
I was just mentioning.
dollhouse gets some of the lowest ratings i’ve ever seen on network tv.
ANDY: Melrose Place does that better. And basically everything that failed on the CW (besides the ones that they don’t classify as failing). I mean, The WB had more going for them before they joined with UPN.
I’m still debating if I want to watch this season of Dollhouse. The season Premiere left me underwhelmed and I’ve had little desire to watch since then. On the other hand I watched the entire first season and there is a small part of me that wants to see how it all ends.
They should canceled that crappy Supernanny ! 1.1/4 really ? Worst than a L&O repeat. Poor ABC
