The Wrap reports that Charles Barkley will host the first new Saturday Night Live of the new year on January 9 with musical guest Alicia Keys.

Barkley has hosted SNL before, but it's been a long time, so long that the last time he hosted the musical guest was Nirvana!  Barkley hosted the 19th season premiere of SNL on September 25, 1993.

Ushering the new year in with Alicia Keys should create positive vibes and optimism.

SNL must be scrambling for hosts this season… And this one is over 30.

  5. Chris

    Turrible, just turrible.

  6. Joss's Biggest Fan

I don’t watch basketball because Joss takes up so much of my time, but isn’t he, like, retired?! For the love of Joss, why would they want him?! I miss the days when we took our worn out old people behind the shed and shot them!

I think it is abundantly clear that there is but one man for the job: Joss himself! Think about it: he’s funny! (Duh!) He can sing! (He sang “Grr! Argh!” in the closing credits of the Buffy musical!) He can dance! (He dances in an episode of Angel!) He’s much more relevant than people like Taylor Swift and Taylor Lautner and all those other freaks! Why they haven’t asked him yet I have no idea!

Dollhouse! Dollhouse! Dollhouse! Dollhouse rules! Worn-out athletes drool! Dollhouse!

Joss retired?? The cancellation of Dollhouse must have been a big blow.

I remember when Barkley hosted and played a pick-up game against Barney the dinosaur. That was funny stuff!
