Ratings Notes for TNT, Adult Swim, truTV and TBS' Lopez Tonight

TNT

Last Monday’s episode of The Closer ranked as ad-supported cable’s #1 entertainment program for the week among viewers (5.5 million) and households (4.1 million).  It also scored 1.6 million adults 18-49 and 2.1 million adults 25-54.

TNT’s Men of a Certain Age continued its successful run last Monday night at 10 p.m., with the series’ second episode delivering 4.4 million viewers, 3.2 million households, 1.8 million adults 18-49 and 2.3 million adults 25-54.  It grew from its lead-in, The Closer, by 10% among adults 18-49 and by 6% among adults 25-54.

TNT’s Sunday 8 p.m. premiere of Christmas in Washington, which featured performances by Justin Bieber, Mary J. Blige, Neil Diamond, Sugarland, Rob Thomas and Usher, was watched by 1.9 million viewers and 1.3 million households, up 32% and 22%, respectively, over last year’s concert.  Hosted by George Lopez, this year’s presentation also scored tremendous growth among adults 18-49 (78%) and adults 25-54 (57%) when compared to last year.

The 2009-10 NBA regular season on TNT continues to experience tremendous growth, averaging a 1.2 national household rating, up 20% over the first 18 games of the 2008-09 NBA season (1.0 national household rating). In addition, total viewers are up 19% (1,813,000 vs. 1,518,000) and households are up 18% (1,380,000 vs. 1,168,000).

The network has also seen significant increases in key demos including:

  • Adults 18-34:  + 23%  594,000 in 2009 vs. 482,000 in 2008
  • Adults 18-49:  +14 %  1,001,000 vs. 877,000
  • Adults 25-54:  +16 %  899,000 vs. 777,000
  • Men 18-34:  +26 %  443,000  vs. 352,000
  • Men 18-49:  +18%  721,000 vs. 609,000
  • Men 25-54:  +22%  647,000 vs. 530,000

Adult Swim

Adult Swim continued its successful year, ranking as ad-supported cable’s #1 network for the week in total-day delivery of adults 18-34.

TBS

TBS’s late-night hit Lopez Tonight enjoyed a strong week, averaging 1.3 million viewers, up 7% when compared to the prior week.  In addition, it delivered 845,000 adults 18-49, up 9% when compared to the prior week.  The show continues to be tremendous hit with multicultural viewers, with Hispanic viewers accounting for 32% of its audience, while African-American viewers account for 27% of its audience.

truTV

truTV, which is scoring its biggest year ever in ratings, enjoyed strong performances from its original series last week, led by Operation Repo.  The Monday, Dec. 14, 10 p.m. episode ranked among cable’s Top 5 entertainment programs in its time period in delivery of adults 18-34 (583,000); adults 18-49 (1,035,000); men 18-34 (331,000); and men 18-49 (587,000).
