Please note, that because of the holidays, the networks only had national news broadcasts three days last week:
| NBC | ABC | CBS | |
| Total Viewers: | 9,370,000 | 8,560,000 | 6,160,000 |
| A25-54: | 2,840,000 | 2,270,000 | 1,830,000 |
Though only for three days, that's not different from the trend for the season where the NBC Nightly News leads ABC's World News and CBS Evening News.
Sawyer's first broadcast on averaged 8.97 million, Charles Gibson's last broadcast as anchor for "World News" averaged 8.96 million.

Goes to show that people respect Diane Sawyer, Katie not-so-much. I think Diane will overtake NBC in time.
ABC has the best network news division by far. It’s only a matter of time before people switch over from NBC’s vastly inferior broadcast.
minus the bias i would agree but thats with all three networks
i prefer CNN but if i had to choose i would choose to watch NBC over the other two
ABC kept the transition from Gibson to Sawyer low key. It appears that ABC will be happy with Diane keeping Charlie’s numbers. Until Sawyer retires, ABC will likely be a close second to NBC. Katie Couric will continue to be a distant third.
I like Diane alot and a big fan of Good Morning America. However, Brian has stepped outside the box and I like that…appearing on Saturday Night Live and he seems more self-effacing…doesn’t take himself too seriously. His meetings with famous are not so in your face as more factual and personable. I think people relate to him better.
