So ATWT has more viewers than GH (Franco) & OLTL and higher demo viewers than OLTL and AMC and is cancelled. Interesting.
Listen, we have until September to know if ATWT will be picked up somewhere else. Telenext said they will announce it as soon as a deal is made.
Yesterday, Tyra Banks announced her show was ending, do u think The CW has a chance at Oakdale?
I love it!!! ATWT keeps climbing up the ladder week after week. I really don’t understand it though. GH and OLTL must be horrible shows right now. Regardless, F you CBS! Even though this isn’t the ratings yet for Christmas Eve, I did watch the show (some) as an annual tradition I do. BIG MISTAKE. The entire hour was devoted to Brad’s ghost. If you’re not a fan of this string of characters, you just allienated the rest of your audience. Why wasn’t this episode produced earlier or later? Where were the traditional family gatherings that you see on these episodes right before the holidays that past and present viewers are tuning in to see? That episode is a perfect time for you to showcase your main families and characters and to give past and future viewers a sampling of what your show has to offer. That’s another reason this show has been bombing this past year — the producers of this show really don’t have a clue what the viewers would love to see. So sad, because the show really does have potential.
Go As The World Turns!!!! We fans are still fighting for this show!
If I worked at OLTL or GH I would be sending out headshots right about now. To be getting lower ratings than a show that’s already been canceled is not a good sign. It’s only a matter of time for AMC as well.
Once again, AMC highest rated soap on ABC.
I think GH will be at the bottom next week. AMC is riding the 40years train straight to the top. Like I said before 2010 is the year of AMC.
I watched AMC when I was younger, but I can’t get into it any more. However, an article including a press release on this site talks about all the things they are doing concerning AMC. They are moving the show to L. A. and spending big bucks on a new studio, and the stuff they need to broadcast AMC in HD. So, since they are doing all these things, I think that they don’t have any intention of cancelling AMC any time soon.
‘Days of Our Lives’ won the W18-34 demo for the first time this season (it has tied a few times before, but not won outright).
The last time ‘Days of Our Lives’ won the W18-34 demo was week 40 of the 2008-09 season (June 22-26, 2009).
If NBC ever lets go of ‘Days of Our Lives’, The CW should try to acquire it for their daytime line-up. It’s demo would really fit nicely with their primetime offerings.
This is getting really hilarious, ATWT gets cancelled and now they are moving up every week. Go ATWT! I hope that ATWT will find a new home, they deserve so much better then CBSucks!
Look at that rating for ATWT on Christmas Eve and its getting the axe. CBS will pay for this move in the long run.
I’m getting the feeling ATWT are really close to announcing a new deal within the next two months and will find a new network to plant it in CBS’ face. ATWT needs to move somewhere, where it can be appreciated and get a bigger budget.
DAYS is just a ratings beast right now, there’s no stopping it right now. The dream combo of DAYS and ATWT back to back.
GH has been very soggy lately but I think this is going to be a good week coming up as it will showcase the best use of James Franco so far.
Hopefully AMC’s new beginning in February will re-spark the franchise like DAYS has done in 2008.
IF CBS wants to save ATWT, they can send it over to CW since they own 50%. Anyhow, that’s hardly likely. OLTL is next! muhaha!
BlueLick these are not the ratings for Christmas Eve or Christmas Day or last week’s ratings they were the week before because they were delayed.
Television in general seems to be going through a metamorphosis, and soaps are being victimized by network execs that have to pare down overall budgets. Talk is big bucks now, as the payroll is smaller, writers are a minor portion of the budget, and set decoration and wardrobe are miniscule compared with a soap cast. There is no music to score, and guests are usually provided by publishing houses, movie and music producers, and networks pushing new shows.
Let’s hope daytime drama doesn’t go the way of the radio serials. These programs are the storytellers of our generation…one last bastion of the folk lore of our times, for the most part free from the grotesque, animated or computer generated content filling movie theaters and primetime. The question for viewers is: How do we convince networks that soaps are worth the share of their dime they are given? I hope we can be persuasive enough…
ATWT should be paired with DAYS, simple as that. If NBC done want it ABC should pick it up and reduce it to a half hour show.
I dont watch OLTL, but I feel bad for it cuz its at the very bottom in ratings, and that is never a good sign.
I hope soaps stay on for a long time. I have been watching AMC GH and BB on and sometimes off since I was 5 when my mom had on. And I am almost 27. I gave up on GH. I have faith in AMC. I would be devastated if it got cancelled. I am THANKFUL its the top-rated on ABC!
AMC is the lowest-rated show in the only ratings that matter in daytime TV: women 18-49.
The show is in huge trouble.
I’m happy to see ATWT making gains right when it needs to find a new home. It is such a great show. Not to mention we fans have been busy crazy sending postcards, bars of soap, and writing letters to different cable networks like Lifetime.
Shem: You are a bastard for bashing OLTL. It’s posters like you saying they can’t wait for a show to be cancelled that is going to bring down this whole genre. Are you trying to kill the show? There are actually some fans of the show out there who you are offending. I don’t watch it, but posters hoping for a cancellation are the reason soaps are falling one by one.
Great news AMC fans:
It appears though Chuck Pratt has turned our show into a shallow mess, enough stars are getting vocal about the way he wrote characters out of character. Just leave it to outspoken Kelly Ripa to expose this. In a TVGuide interview she said her character Hayley and Erica get into a brawl, and Susan Lucci stopped taping and said, “Hey wait a minute, these two characters have always been close and never had a problem.” and the producers pretty much said “Shoot it. We have boxes packed”. Sad sad, but at least Pratt is heading out the door! At least Kelly Ripa indirectly denounced the writers.
I don’t wish OLTL to fail Holly- all I did was state the fact- it is at the bottom of the barrel and due the current downward trend, its mostly probable that One Life to Live wil be the next soap opera serial to bid adieu. (I did not want to use so many words, Holly)
Also, How dare you say i’m despicable person- do you even know me? Plus i’m generally a positive poster @ TVBTN.
I think soaps need to stay true the heart of daytime storytelling- Ron has messed up OLTL- it has become very convoluted, however, people/viewers/fans in today’s society would be very afraid to speak against the show because of its “groundbreaking” modern storytelling- as i said before it has become way too over-political. Most of the writing for OLTL has a liberal bias. I’ve been watching, on & off since 2003, so I would suppose I know what I’m talking about.
