Wow, that’s about a fifth of the actual viewers who tune in to ABC everyday. If only SoapNet would drop becoming a garbage-reality TV sellout and keep focusing on soaps. So sick of reality TV
It does appear that the soap opera viewer losses being experienced by ABC during daytime are being made up by SoapNet as viewers migrate to watching soaps in the evening or on weekends.
I wondered what kind of ratings SOAPNet was getting. Can’t complain about year-to-year growth.
Are AMC and OLTL the channel’s top draws? Would think so, since it only mentioned those, and they do air in prime slots in prime-time.
Is this rating good enough to save OLTL from cancellation?
I am a big fan of watching on SoapNet so count me in.
I am a SoapNet viewer for the soaps and using the network for DVR usage. SoapNet used to be my most favorite net outside of ESPN a few years ago when they used to show the classic soaps but that reality garbage has ruined that net.
Its good to see the ABC Soaps score good on SoapNet in Prime Time hours. I think ABC should always tie in SoapNet when it comes to their ratings on the main network.
The only program I watch on Soapnet is Ryan’s Hope! I watch my soaps
on their original networks because I find all their pop-ups on the bottom of the screen, so irritating! While the networks do it also, they are far less intrusive. I am also disapointed that they are gearing towards the teen shows, and reality programs! I could watch
other channels for that! I wish soapnet would air vintage soaps, then I would be back!
It’s funny how they axed classic soaps like Knots Landing for shows that aren’t really soaps yet their highest rated shows are the daytime soaps. SOAPnet, just show soaps!
Is it just me or does anyone else find it strange that General Hospital ratings are not mentioned.
I don’t see any proof here that reality/non-soap shows on SoapNet are doing poorly. All that the press release talks about is AMC and OLTL, which is understandable given that they and SoapNet are all owned by Disney. (Interesting how the other ABC soap, GH, doesn’t get a mention…)
I do know that when SoapNet aired Another World, the numbers were dreadful. One figure that was quoted was a 0.0 in the demo. About a year ago, I also recall that BH 90210, I believe, absolutely trounced classic soaps in viewership. The SoapNet people were basically like, “Look, we have to air what brings in the viewers. If more people would watch classic soaps, they would get aired more.”
So sure, you can have people here saying they don’t like some of the programming and different things should be aired. But they were aired, and apparently flopped miserably.
Really? I heard that they were very happy with Knots’ numbers, they just couldn’t afford it because of the licensing fees that Warner Brothers wanted to charge them.
no mention of Being Erica ratings? thats like their flagship show only primetime series they have exclusive rights to in the US
I actually read something of this extent a while ago and GH was mentioned, as well as the OTHER soaps it AIRS. The top soaps watched on Soapnet were 1) AMC 2) Days 3) OLTL 4) Y&R and 5) GH. GH was in last place, and was only show to lose viewership on SOAPNET. It would be nice if they would configure the repeats into the ratings sysytem so it would be a proper presantation of who is watching them. Maybe they would consider it if SOAPNET aired All currently aired soaps, maybe once ATWT goes off the air, they should aquire the rights to Bold and Beautiful and then hey would consider doing it since all shows had another chance for airing. I think if they did the numbers would look different.
I think the actual top 7 would be
1) YR
2) AMC or BB
3) AMC or BB
4) Days
5) OLTL
6) GH
7) ATWT
