Saturday night the initial telecast of Doctor Who's "End of Time, Pt 2", David Tennant's finale as the doctor, averaged over a million viewers for BBC America (1.015 million) from 8:30p-10pm. That's better than the 671,000 for the first airing of Pt. 1 on BBCA, and even better than December's "Waters of Mars" episode which averaged 803,000 in its first telecast.
An additional broadcast from 11:30p-1a averaged 224,000 and the 2:30am-4am telecast added in another 96,000 for a total of 1.47 million between the three airings surpassing the 1.1 million for the three airings of "Waters of Mars."
Here's the info on part one and on how the two part episode fared in the UK

I’ll miss DT
I have fallen in love with this show corny as it is. The show captured my interest and I will be tuning in regularly. Loved the finally watched and blogged on Facebook at same time you can’t do that with a DVR playback.
Good numbers for Doctor Who, wasn’t expecting numbers that high but well deserved. I actually think the show continues to get better every year.
I first started watching Dr. Who when it was reborn with Christoffer Eccelston became the Doctor. I wasn’t sure I would like it but was pleasantly surprised. I especially liked Billie Piper. Then just as I was getting happy the doctor changed again. David Tennant was even better! Some of the stories were a little cheesy but David made it fun to watch. When Billie Piper left I was really sad. But then Catherine Tate was the worst companion he has ever had. However I liked David so much I continued to watch. I was hoping she would get killed off each episode. Martha was better, but now David is leaving and I saw his replacement and I am so not impressed that I will stop watching. Sorry.
A bit of a tip of the hat to TVBTN from:

You’re mentioned in the End of Time Roundup.
the problem with bbc america is they are stale. Take MI 5 by the time they had the show on bbc america most true fans already saw it on dvd gotten off amazon using a universal dvd. Plus now you can use a proxy server in the UK to watch tv shows in US on your computer…bbca needs to become current
The Doctor Donna was the best! Love Cathrine Tate. Hope she gets a Donna show of her own.
> the problem with bbc america is they are stale
They are starting to get the hint. These last two episodes of Doctor Who were broadcast on BBC America they day after their BBC premiere.
i think i liked waters of mars better but glad doctor who got a good final dt record!! I love doctor who and hope the new doctor can give us who fans what we love!!!
any numbers on Demons that aired after part 2 of who??
Glad the show did so well for BBCA. A good send off for Tennett. I do wish they’d explained who the woman was-was it his Mom, Romana, or a White Guardian?
Anyways, BBCA treats the show as a tentpole series…Has it’s (weekly) performance last season there beat whatever it did on Syfy?
i cried when david regenarated i have love him since he took over from christopher eccleston and have been clued and now i cant believe he’s gone i mean yeah sure he has been doing it for 4 years but there are people who have been going longer in a series like tom welling in smallville or william peterson who played gil grissom in csi but i guess you have to draw a line somewhere i will miss you david i have enjoyed every second of you being the doctor. in the words of the 9th doctor you were fantastic.
just a note what is with the new phrase geronimo come on cant you come up with something better then that i mean that is a bit of a cheesy emo phrase i do hope matt smith gets more interesting phrases like david did alonsi and brilliant. god bless you david and matt your gonna have a tough time feeling in davids shoes but you have my surport
Wow, isn’t anyone here a fan of Classic Who? –Except Kyle B, who knows about Romana and the White Guardian. But as for the rest of you, if I say “Big Finish,” do you have even the slightest clue what I’m talking about? For my money, the iconic Doctor remains Tom Baker though my favorite might be Peter Davison or Sylvester McCoy. They all had their good points, though.
David Tennant leaving is just another in a long string. It should be fun to see which qualities Matt Smith brings to the role.
I think he is more interested in doing stage acting … Also might have been some behind the scenes disagreements that you cant take back.
The show also has new guy in charge … I cant remember , I read about it couple years ago.
Yes. The new head writer / executive producer is Steven Moffat, who has written four stories for the new series so far, all of which were absolutely brilliant:
1. The Empty Child / The Doctor Dances
2. The Girl in the Fireplace
3. Blink
4. Silence in the Library / Forest of the Dead
Lisa, the sheer mass of non-current series Who material (old series, audio dramas, et al.) is intimidating even for someone like me who *wants* to catch up. (I’ve just started watching Tom Baker after a couple seasons of Jon Pertwee, the first half-year or so of Wm. Hartnell and a few scattered other serials.
ART: might want to watch more than one minute of Matt Smith before passing judgment, no? I think he’ll be entertaining, despite (or because?) maybe being a bit too close to Tennant in mannerisms.
Oh, and audio commentaries have revealed who the writer thought the woman in white was. I choose to ignore him.
I was a DR WHO fan when I was a teenager here in America, and still am now that I’m 40 years old. I can’t believe the growing fanbase the new series has! I think David Tennant is the best Doctor since Tom Baker. I’m so excited about the new series. Although I have my doubts about Matt Smith taking over the roll. I really hope he doesn’t let the fans down.

I am, but only found this forum looking up the BBCA numbers for David Tennant’s regen ep.
David Tennant is my 3rd favorite doctor, with Tom Baker and Jon Pertwee running 1 and 2.
BTW, I’m not that much into the audio series, so Big Finish is a no finish here.
For the person that posted they are not going to watch due to Matt Smith, almost everyone said the same thing about David Tennant. Give him two seasons to get things right. During David Tennant’s first season I kept hoping they’d kill the “skinny little dude” off, but he grew on me and now I am sad to see him go.
David Tennant quit while he was ahead, he left with the rest of ‘em… (RTD, Julie Gardner, etc.) He’s gonna be on a US TV show this year called “Rex is Not Your Lawyer” on NBC, most likely… He was wonderful as the Doctor, but he’s such a good actor, needs to do other stuff.
Matt Smith is going to be wonderful as the Doctor; just give him a chance. Doctor Who is about change, and the Doctor changes ever so often and we get a refresh. That’s what keeps the show going!
Looking forward to 2010. It will be good. Will miss David, but we will see him doing other things.
@Art — Donna was an outstanding companion to the Doctor, and Catherine Tate was excellent. Her fate — that she can never remember her time with the Doctor — is heartbreaking. @Leo — David Tennant left because he wanted to leave while it was still fun. No idea where you get the idea there was some “behind the scenes disagreements.” By all accounts DT is a joy to work with. @Lynda, Rex is not confirmed yet as a new series, don’t think we’ll know until the spring about that. We do have Hamlet to look forward to, on PBS sometime this spring. Very glad to see the high numbersr for this episode. It was an amazing send-off. Very much enjoyed the relationship between The Doctor and Wilf; Bernard Cribbins was fantastic. I came into Who because of David Tennant, but have now become a fan of the series, and look forward to seeing what Steven Moffat and Matt Smith have in store for us.
