CBS released its mid-season update plans today.   Miami Medical will take Numb3rs slot beginning April 2, and Accidentally on Purpose will move to Wednesday at 8:30pm on March 31, to make room for Rules of Engagement which will take the Monday slot.  Gary Unmarried goes off the schedule beginning March 31 to make room for Accidentally on Purpose.

If I'm doing the math right, Numb3rs will have aired all of its episodes (remember, it had its order shortened to 16 episodes) by the time Miami Medical debuts.

Update: Tuesdays and Thursdays are staying the same, and as noted in the comments, there is no info on Sunday night here, but CBS already announced its Sunday lineup for February including Undercover Boss (though I'm not sure how many episodes that will air).

CBS announced mid-season moves for its scripted series, including the premiere of the new drama MIAMI MEDICAL and the return of the comedy Rules of Engagement.

MIAMI MEDICAL, about a team of expert surgeons who thrive on the adrenaline rush of working at one of the premiere trauma facilities in the country while drawing upon their wit and irreverence to survive on the edge, debuts Friday, April 2 (10:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT). MIAMI MEDICAL succeeds NUMB3RS, which will have completed its season order.

ACCIDENTALLY ON PURPOSE will continue to be broadcast on Mondays at 8:30 PM through February 22 before moving to Wednesdays (8:30-9:00 PM, ET/PT) beginning March 31 where it will be paired with THE NEW ADVENTURES OF OLD CHRISTINE. ACCIDENTALLY ON PURPOSE replaces GARY UNMARRIED, which will have also completed its season order.

MIAMI MEDICAL stars Jeremy Northam, Lana Parrilla, Mike Vogel, Elisabeth Harnois and Omar Gooding. Looks like Accidentally on Purpose has to compete with Cougar Town and Glee. I don’t think it’s ever going to win against those two though.

  2. RJ

Hopefully Gary Unmarried returns next season! It’s numbers have been improving and so has the show overall!

  3. Hudson

AtCat, I thought Glee is moving to Tuesdays when it comes back?

  4. Tar

    what about sundays?

  5. Joe

AtCat it’s the middle and unexpected life???

  6. Anonymous

Ah crap, now “The Middle” might suffer….

  7. That leaves Sunday 10pm for “Flashpoint,” right?

  8. Don J

Looks like CBS is now saving Flashpoint and The Bridge for Summer.

I’ll give Miami Medical a try, although I don’t think it’s going to be a groundbreaking medical procedural by any means. Since MM has 13 episodes, I guess they are following the same pattern as Harper’s Island and just letting run into the summer.

  9. BlueLick

Gary should’ve definitely kept its spot or moved to Mondays. Its been rising.

Accidentally on Purpose easily trumps Cougar Town which is making a living off of Modern Family but maybe not Glee.

  10. Dialogue101

NBC should try to pickup NUMB3RS, its not exactly a completely dead show just yet. Would definitely be a good fit with L&O and it be funny if they took out Medium at 9pm with it.

  11. nillo

I was hoping the move would be earlier. I can’t watch AoP this season with House and Chuck airing on Mondays.

  12. Hmmmm. This schedule is good for CBS, but back for AoP & Miami Medical

  13. pete5125

Accidently staying on the schedule is a surprise, but it is the best spot on the schedule after similar sitcom Christine, and before Gregs’s show Criminal Minds.

I would still bet Rules and Gary make it next season, Accidently is a mid season Christine is gone.

  14. Chmarin

How can GU air all 22 episodes by April? And how can CBS stretch AOP through May if they only ordered 18 episodes? :/

  15. Tony

I called Accidentally on Purpose moving to Wednesdays for awhile now and I’m shocked that I was right. But I knew CBS wanted to try 2 female lead comedies on Wednesdays. I think that old Christine goes better with AoP than with Gary. and AoP doesn’t fit wel after HIMYM. I will be really interested to see the ratings for March 31st. :)

  16. *bad, I mean. Not “back”. That would make no sense.

  17. Chmarin

EDIT: Just read that GU has 17 episodes ordered. Still, I’m puzzled about AOP.

  18. Brynna

Gross. Way to ruin Monday Nights. I hate Rules of Engagement. It’s beyond the stupidest sitcom on the air!

  19. pete5125, “Accidently staying on the schedule is a surprise,”

I don’t think anyone thought it was doing badly enough that it would be pulled in the middle of *this* season.

What won’t surprise me is if it’s gone at the *end* of this season.

  20. AtCat

“AtCat it’s the middle and unexpected life???”

“AtCat, I thought Glee is moving to Tuesdays when it comes back?”

    my bad.
