Update: Men of a Certain Age has been renewed for a second season of 10 episodes.  Here are some more thoughts on its ratings (and a funny quote about that from show co-creator Mike Royce).

Before Men of a Certain Age aired, I wrote that the show was certain to draw viewers of a certain age but the bigger problem turns out to be it's just not drawing that many viewers at all.

Monday night's episosde (January 11)  averaged  a 1.0 with adults 18-49 and to be fair, that's exactly the same as last week.  But last week could still claim more than 3 million viewers, albeit barely with 3.096 million.

Last night's episode dropped below three million to 2.868 million marking its first outing under 3 million viewers.

Comments from fans and critics suggest the show's quality just gets better and better.  But that is not the case with its ratings.

Men debuted relatively strong. with its premiere episode on Monday December 7 averaging 5.397 million viewers and a 1.6 rating with adults 18-49.  The first few episodes had the help of a lead-in from new episodes of The Closer.  At this point the show has lost around 40% of its 18-49 sampling and nearly 50% of its overall audience from its premiere.
