ESPN and ABC will shift lanes with their NASCAR coverage in 2010.

The cable sports leader will televise 14 NASCAR Sprint Cup races in 2010, highlighted by nine of the 10 in the season-ending "Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup." For its part, broadcast brethren ABC will air a trio of races in primetime on Saturday.

Over the past three seasons, ESPN aired six races, while ABC televised the other 11 that are part of the network's package with the top stock car circuit.

ESPN's coverage of the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series begins with the Brickyard 400 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway on July 25 and concludes with the season-ending Ford 400 at Homestead-Miami Speedway on Nov. 21.

Likely this is happening for the same reasons that Monday Night Football was shifted to ESPN. It's all about the carriage fees. And at over $4/subscriber/month ESPN's is currently, by far, the highest in the industry.
