TNT Ratings Notes Including Leverage, Men Of A Certain Age, Southland & NBA

TNT’s hit series Leverage returned last Wednesday with an outstanding 3.7 million viewers.  The episode scored the series’ best delivery ever of adults 18-34 (721,000), as well as the best delivery of adults 18-49 (1.7 million) since the series’ premiere in 2008.

  • Leverage was ad-supported cable’s #1 drama for the week among adults 18-49.  It also ranked among ad-supported cable’s Top 5 programs for the week among adults 25-54 (1.8 million).
  • When compared to the series’ average this past summer, last night’s episode enjoyed extraordinary 88% growth among adults 18-34 and 35% growth among adults 18-49.  In addition, the episode scored 8% growth among adults 25-54, 5% growth among viewers and 4% growth among households (2.7 million) when compared to summer episodes.

TNT’s Men of a Certain Age continued its successful run last Monday, with the series’ latest episode ranking as ad-supported cable’s #1 entertainment program in its time period among viewers (2.9 million million), households (2.2 million) and adults 25-54 (1.7 million).  It also ranked among ad-supported cable’s Top 5 programs for the week among adults 25-54.

  • With Live + 7 data now available for the show’s Dec. 28 episode, Men of a Certain Age once again proved it has a strong core audience that doesn’t want to miss a single episode, especially during the holidays.  The show’s Dec. 28 episode grew its total audience by 49% in a comparison of Live + 7 to Live viewing.  Meanwhile, key adult demos were boosted tremendously through DVR viewing, with Live + 7 delivery of adults 18-49 growing by 65% over Live and adults 25-54 growing by 63% over Live.

Nearly 2 million viewers tuned in last Tuesday as TNT began its special encore of the critically acclaimed series Southland.

  • Among viewers (1,977,000); households (1,533,000); adults 18-49 (859,000); and adults 25-54 (926,000), the show outdelivered the 2009 primetime averages of TNT’s other acquired crime dramas, including BonesCSI: NYCold CaseNumb3rs and Law & Order.

The 2009-10 NBA regular season on TNT continues to experience growth, averaging a 1.1 national household ratingup 10% over the first 22 games of the 2008-09 NBA season (1.0 national household rating). In addition, total viewers are up 11% (1,713,000 vs. 1,544,000), and households are up 12% (1,310,000 vs. 1,174,000).

  • The network has also seen significant increases in key demos including:
  • Adults 18-34:  +14%  554,000 in 2009 vs. 484,000 in 2008
  • Adults 18-49:  +7%  941,000 vs. 890,000
  • Adults 25-54:  +6%  849,000 vs. 792,000
  • Men 18-34:  +16%  409,000 vs. 353,000
  • Men 18-49:  +9%  670,000 vs. 614,000
  • Men 25-54:  +12%  605,000 vs. 538,000
