USA's latest series White Collar had a stellar return Tuesday night (Jan. 19), with significant improvements compared to its fall 2009 season average and a series high viewer total among 18-49 year-olds.

The show drew 2.1 million viewers in that demo, 30% above the season average.  It attracted 4.7 million overall viewers, on par with last year's average, and 2.2 million adults 25-54, the second best total in that demo for the series to date.  It also nabbed a series high with 983,000 viewers age 18-34, a 42% increase over the fall average.

Looks like USA's move to Tuesday started well. White Collar compared well in the 18-49 demo with broadcast 10pm shows last night.

A great return episode. Can’t wait to see how the season turns out!

Nice work USA! I only wish you weren’t owned by NBC :)

  3. Visan

    Kudos to WC! :)

  4. ryan

love this show! how many episodes in a season does USA usually give there shows?

  5. Shana

@ryan- they usually have 13-16 episodes a season, split into two half seasons of 6&7 or 8&8.

  6. Hooray! A breath of fresh air especially for a company that’s not smelling too nice these days. Any reason why this premiered a week ahead of other USA original series (i.e. Psych and Burn Notice)?

  7. Love the premiere Hard Sell I love the show and hope it stays on for many more seasons like NCIS. for the person who asked why it premiered a week before Burn Notice, well Burn Notice premiere is Thursday Jan 21st the same week as WC, Pshyc premeie’s next Wednesday. After the season finale when will White Collar come back on for season 2, I hope not too long.

  8. Great move for USA, what an amazing season for them!

What did the Bourne Ultimatum get before it?

Fabulous! Loved the premiere, and WC is my favorite out of the new shows. I am almost exclusively a watcher of USA/TNT/TBS shows aka CABLE! They really are stepping up to the plate and giving an alternative to the dinosaur networks.

I was worried-posted in the “Is this a Good Move” article, and am relieved ti see it wasn’r harmed by the move. One down, 2 more (Psych and Burn Notice-well not really for BN, as it’s only returning to it’s original time) to go.

Great Show Great cast great ratings hopefully will hold around that for the rest of season.

  16. Sue Maple

Still a fun show….bright and upbeat. Great cast.

I think Psych is going to interesting to watch as it is the first time without the Monk lead plus it faces competition from Leverage and Nip/Tuck which could dent its ratings, luckily it has already been renewed for another season.

As long as the the characters, ‘Neal & Peter’ act in the same manner like ‘Crockett & Tubbs’ from ‘Miami Vice’, White Collar will continue to grow in viewership and continue to be a success! Matt Bomer is to White Collar, What Don Johnson was to Miami Vice! (I would suggest that some 80′s music from Miami Vice be inserted in certain scenes in the way that Vice had done! There’s a Huge crowd out there that miss Vice!! Trust me on this…..Try it, it’ll work!)

That’s some pretty good numbers there. White Collar definitly deserves them because in my mind it’s the best of all the new shows.
