CBS NEWS' "FACE THE NATION" WINNING STREAK OVER ABC CONTINUES -- "FACE THE NATION" BEATS ABC IN VIEWERS AND KEY DEMOGRAPHICS FOR THE THIRD WEEK IN A ROW AND TIES FOR FIRST WITH NBC IN ADULTS 25-54
Only Sunday Morning Public Affairs Broadcast to Post Gains
CBS News' "FACE THE NATION" winning streak continues. For the third week in a row, "FACE THE NATION" beat ABC in viewers and key demographics, according to Nielsen live plus same day ratings for Sunday, January 17. The CBS broadcast posted 2.4/6 in households, 3.33m in viewers, 0.9/04 in adults 25-54, tied for first with NBC, and 1.1/4 in "boomers" adults 35-54.
"FACE THE NATION" was the only Sunday morning public affairs broadcast to post gains in households and in viewers, up +9% in households (from 2.2/06), +5% in viewers (from 3.18m).
On the broadcast, Bob Schieffer interviewed President Bill Clinton; President George W. Bush; General P. K. Keen, SOUTHCOM; Rajiv Shah, USAID; CBS News' Chief National Correspondent Byron Pitts; National Correspondent Jeff Glor; and Medical Correspondent Dr. Jennifer Ashton.
"FACE THE NATION" is broadcast Sundays (10:30-11:00 AM, ET; check local listings) on the CBS Television Network. Carin Pratt is the executive producer.

ABC’s This Week needs to find a host quick. A good one who has the experience and authority to call out both sides of an issue when they range too far from the truth. And they need to stop putting on the same guests over and over. How many times has John McCain been on since he lost the election? Maybe they can interview the new Senator to be from Massachusetts and he can defend himself from some of the more odd charges.
Face the Nation may skew a bit stodgy but Schieffer seems to be trying to be fair to both sides of an issue. And Face the Nation was successful when practically all of those shows on Sunday had the exact same guests which is a bit interesting.
ABC must return to negotiations with Mr. Ted Koppel. He has the gravitas to restore ‘This Week’ to leadership, and I think he is a very fair-minded, reflective journalist, perfect for the role of host that Mr. David Brinkley originated.
It’s bcoz Schieffer benefited from CBS Sunday Morning.. they should have Jeff Greenfield on CBS Face The Nation as guest
