It didn’t work so they tried Wed night, which is their strongest comedy night, @ 10 PM against a cancled Jay Leno, No competition on (Fox, MyNet, ION, or CW…other than reruns)and CBS CSI:NY

and if it would of came in 2nd place I doubt you would here they were cancling the show, but no it got beat by LENO.

At least it gets an ending, I didn’t get that from My Name is Earle, I got one from Scrubs but then ABC brought it back so now I wont get one from it either, Millenium I had to waite a year for them to tack it on an X-Files episode…etc,etc,etc

For a show like Betty this is the best case, since it is based off a telenovle, hopefully it can get moved for reruns to something more high profile like Lifetime.

TVGuide Network, so dont they just scroll a tv schedule at the bottom of the page and now they show real shows at the top of the screen…weird??

Both half-hour sitcoms. Name me an hourlong drama. I’m sure you might find one, but I believe Ugly Betty was the first high-profile.

How about because it was the first show to feature a Mexican American family as the central focal point?

Id like to know if there were any changes in the writing staff/creative executives between 2nd and 3rd season. If there were, whomever joined the staff 3rd season really tanked this show.

Also, it was around 3rd season that the show ceased to be a “Dramady” and became a Drama. The few jokes that they did throw in were recycled over and over again.

I dont mean to sound negative, I actually watched the show and was a fan. C’mon people, even the “Bahamas” episode which was supposed to be some big “event” was crap.

You do realize those aren’t released by SHOWTIME. So that explains the differences in their respective prices. It’s not a scam by showtime to cheat you out of more money for Dexter.

Weeds/Nurse Jackie are produced by Lions Gate, and they price TV sets fairly cheaply.
USoT/Dexter are Paramount, I believe. So it’s apples & oranges comparing “showtime” shows MSRP differences.

As for HBO, they have been getting much more competitive with their DVD prices. The last several things released were at a very low MSRP. I got Trueblood on Blu-ray and paid like $24.99.

The Ugly Betty sets could be found very cheap if you’re patient and wait for a sale (15.99-19.99 range).

Glad to see UB go out on a high note. Wish more networks would be kind enough to let a show “wrap-up”

i actually think castle would do well on weds at 10—-it’d be against 2 darker crime shows on the other 2 primetime networks–so just for having a lighter tone (but still being a crime proceedural) it would prob do fine—but its honestly doing fine on monddays at 10 (largely thanks to eroding csi miami) and to move it would prob be a mistake at this point.

Anytime someone mentions Chuck in a non-Chuck related article, take a shot of the Mexican good stuff!

But beware, with the Chuck obsessed folks on this website, you’ll likely be drunk within minutes. By 9:00am at the latest.

NBC has the Office and 30 Rock. Parks and Rec is funnier than it use to be.
TNT has Men of A Certain Age.
SHO has Nurse Jackie and Confess of A Call Girl.
fX has Damages, Rescue Me.
HBO has Big Love and a boat load of new tv shows coming in the next 6 months.
ABC has ……. I’m thinking. I guess Modern Family is fine. Not funny enough.
CBS has NOTHING good.
FOX has NOTHING good. Idol is popular, but it’s for 22 year old ladies. And kids. Awful.

Well I’ve watched the show since it started and I loved every minute of it. So sorry for being passionate about an ABC show, but get over it!

You are preaching to the choir here. There’s not one show on ABC to me that’s watchable. DH, Greys are tired and boring now. PP a Greys retread. Modern Family I kind of like but Fox and CBS far outclasses ABC. Even terrible NBC has Chuck and The Office and L&O SVU

I gave a ‘Come On’ because the superlatives and love directed at UB was far more excessive than necessary. Or believable. This show aint Shakespeare, for g-d sake. And the phony baloney ABC love on this board makes me wonder if most of the posters are members of the Disney Board.

In my opinion they needed to have transformed Betty in the 2nd season and changed the storyline. Maybe had her get together with her boss and then deal with their problems. Not believable to me that Betty would remain clueless about fashion in what she wears or have braces so long. Realistically she should have been earning really good money and would have learned fairly quickly how to look more in fashion.

The show started out sort of as a Cinderella storylines with poor girl meets rich guy and then devolved from that.

Yeah, I know and it’s only 12 episodes. HBO & Showtime series are always severely overpriced. That’s why I always wait until they go on sale. I got “True Blood” season one on sale for $19.99. They aren’t ripping me off.

Most TV shows don’t cost that much (with a few notable exceptions such as the Star Trek’s and most HBO programs), unless you are paying the full MSRP. Right now Amazon has S1-3 for $100 if bought individually, or $91 as a Set. And the price is usually less when they go on sale. And that’s just one site, you might find an even better discount if you look around.

the prices for tv series are CUH-RAZY. i was looking @ the first season of True Blood and it cost $49.99

anyways this doesn’t surprise me but its still kinda sad. the writers of the show did a great job with season 1, season 2 was cool but not as good, season 3 was horrible and season 4 has been great (the last few weeks though its kinda been like “ok what happened?”)

still its pretty sad.

Perhaps ABC will move the Deep End to the 10 pm timeslot…it seems to be a popular slot with ABC for shows that are dead or dying.

When Ugly Betty was being moved to Wednesdays, which meant that Eastwick fans would never get to see 2 Episodes of that show, then how many Ugly Betty fans were especially sensitive to their situation? Human reactions are extremely varied and have nothing to do whether or not a show “deserves” to be canceled.

The moment I heard it was moving from Fri@9pm to Wed@10pm I knew that this was more of a lateral move than a reprieve. You see Wed@10pm is to ABC what Fri@9pm is to Fox: TOXIC. ABC moved Life On Mars there, then replaced it with The Unusals; both eventually got cancelled. Wed@10pm is ABC toxic corner; it’s where they send their shows to die.

I wonder what show ABC will put there next?

The premiere of season 3 is what alienated the viewers. It was horrible, and then it got worse, with key characters leaving the show (Romijn, Rodriguez, Jensen). I am glad the show is getting closure and I hope former regulars will join. And that Betty gets that damn makeover.
