Leave it to the British to so gloriously point out the truth about the modern format of a news segment in such a way as to be both informative and satirical. Not sure when I saw the lighthouse doing its Star Wars bit last, but cheers to this “educational” segment.

Charlie Brooker is great, check out his other videos
I watched those two links. Those weren’t as brilliant. Too far. Too over the edge. Though it was humorous in an unintended way. His rant about American news in that what he’s complaining about is exactly what he’s doing himself in his rant. He’s ranting against rants. Doubt he realized it then or probably even now.

Scott, Brooker wasn’t ranting against rants in the ‘American News’ video the entire segment from which that section of commentary is taken was (if I remember rightly) a comparative piece between UK and US news coverage, which remain worlds apart. Even overlooking that bigger picture image there was no rant or even real criticism of the US news networks but more a commentary that they rely on conflict, parading a crew of shouting heads and lean increasingly towards entertainment rather than the traditional news coverage that UK audiences are accustomed to.

Brilliant commentaries from Charlie Brooker. You gotta love the right wing nutjobs who got upset at it too. “He’s doing the same thing”, yeah, cause I saw Brooker crying, claiming we should retake the country and generally ranting like an idiot about inane things that don’t effect 99% of the people on the planet.
He was pointing out how idiotic US news is. And the worst offender, is naturally, the highest rated. Because the dumber crap you do, the more people tune in. Fox is basically the Jersey Shore of News.
