Caprica's episode on Friday night averaged a .5 rating with adults 18-49 and 1.411 million viewers. That compares with 1.6 million viewers and a 0.4 adults 18-49 rating for the pilot episode. But the pilot was two hours, and was widely available in a variety of ways (online, on-demand, DVD) well before the pilot actually aired.
It's early, but those numbers strike me as a bit disappointing. I know, I know, just wait until the live+7 DVR numbers come in...
Disclaimer: I enjoyed Friday night's episode.

That’s a bummer.
A brief history!
(1) Battlestar Galactica’s finale faced off against Dollhouse! Boo!!!
(2) I created several voodoo dolls of the Battlestar Galactica people! These voodoo dolls were dipped in acid! Tarred and feathered! And, worse of all, I danced them around and said, “Caprica’s ratings will suck! Caprica’s ratings will suck!”
(3) Now, Caprica’s ratings do, indeed, suck! Coincidence?! I think not! I will be further vindicated soon when we learn of a random Caprica person having been covered in feathers! You know it’s coming!
Dollhouse! Dollhouse! Dollhouse! Dollhouse rules! Caprica drools! Dollhouse!
Thats on par with the season finale of SGU, granted SGU was getting crushed by the Monk Series finale while Caprica was up against…….Medium?
How is it compared to wrestling of Syfy?
While I usually am hesitant to attach cause and effect to most TV ratings results, in this case there seems to be little question:

P.Lee, dunno. Not sure of ECW’s 18-49 numbers.
Well, it’s under SGU and Sanctuary… I guess people got tired of the word Caprica after the end of BG
Ohh…I hate so much when people write : Dollhouse 10 times with no reason :S
JBF, you must be VERY conflicted.
Jane Espenson, Caprica’s showrunner is a Joss Whedon alum from the Buffy days and…she was a consulting producer on 8 episodes of…wait for it…DOLLHOUSE!
Oh Billbert, I am well aware of Jane Espenson! That is why I did not create a voodoo doll for her specifically!
Prior to writing for Buffy, she wrote for Monty, Me and the Boys, Nowhere Man, and Something so Right, and after Buffy she wrote for Tru Calling, the Inside, and Jake in Progress, so the bright side is she bounces back quickly (and often!)!
When Caprica fails miserably this year, she can move on to the FX series that Joss is certain to create within the next year! (And, in fact, the next time you post about Damages, I have some only-slightly-offtopic thoughts on Joss’s FX series!)
Joss + Jane forever and ever and ever and ever and ever and ever and ever and ever!
I love the idea, the story line, the characters–problem it moves slower than a soap opera. It is way too predictable; I give it 3 more episodes to turn into something or it turns into Firefly the TV series, which was way better than this has been so far.
I couldn’t sit through the pilot of Caprica. I haven’t seen the second episode yet, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it wasn’t good. RM can not write good Battlestar Galactica or even its prequel apparently. He is too enamored with Lost.
Bummer. I’ve never watched BSG, but the Caprica episodes we have so far are pretty damn great.
Disappointing but I’m not worried yet. I think Caprica has the potential to grow over the course of the season. It has a good cast and an interesting story that’s not too confusing. The developing story arcs appear based more on personal relationships rather than LOST-style complex mythology.
The show still has my interest, but DC Mill is spot on – it’s slooooow.
What were the demo ratings on average for BSG?
That’s definitely disappointing, especially since the episode was great.
But whats the rating if u add all 78 Syfy showings together ?
(im joking….kinda).
Bring back SGA! It did better than Sanctuary and now Caprica in not just total live viewers but age demos as well.
I’m so happy JBF is still posting even with Dollhouse gone
