The second episode of Spartacus: Blood and Sand averaged a .4 adults 18-49 rating and 0.773 million viewers on Starz Friday night. Like the first episode though, it was widely available online and On Demand (also through Encore) before the episode aired. Next weeks numbers, when I believe it will air only on Starz, with no pre-availability chould be more telling.
Last week's premiere had a lot of numbers to sift through via the various airings, but it averaged a 0.3 adults 18-49 rating and 0.659 million viewers on Starz and a .2 adults 18-49 rating and 0.578 million viewers on Encore.

Wow, I’ve heard a lot of criticism but still, Ep 2 did better than the pilot. This soon going to be a hit for starz
Soon it will hit 1 million. I have never heard about Straz :s
It’s not a bad show, but it’s certainly not near as good as Rome (HBO) was.
Did I or did I not say that Dollhouse was hampered by the lack of full-frontal nudity?! (Answer: Yes, yes, I did!) Oh, FOX, why couldn’t you include nudity on Dollhouse?! The FCC you say?! Well BLEEP the FCC I say! The FCC can go BLEEP their BLEEPING BLEEPS! BLEEP! Those BLEEPers!
Dollhouse is the greatest BLEEPing thing since the invention of the wheel!
I didn’t watch the premiere, but I did watch the second episode. I’m with Lulu, it’s nowhere near HBO’s Rome, but kind of fun + naked Lucy Lawless.
I can see it finding an audience
Rome was great but it was a serious drama whereas Spartacus is more like The Tudors which is an entertaining romp but totally historically inaccurate.
HBO can afford expensive projects like Rome and the upcoming Pacific which cost as much as a Hollywood blockbusters whereas Showtime and Starz can’t really so they put their money into original series which get just as much critical acclaim.
The good news for Starz (and there’s a lot of good news for Starz in this show) is that the second episode was very well received even by those who hated the pilot, which bodes well for the future. I like it, it’s a lot of fun with a LOT of eye-candy for everyone’s taste.
Wow, hot, hot, hot. I love this show. Something for everyone, well maybe not everyone, but certainly those who are into action, sex and excitement.
i heard its awful but awesome fun
I actually liked the pilot a lot. I know some parts were cheesy effects but it I didn’t mind. I thought the show was good fun. The second episode was pretty good as well.
I deleted it from my TiVo about 10 minutes into the pilot… just not my thing.
But I’m excited that this is a hit for Steven S. DeKnight; I always thought he was one of the more underappreciated writers on Buffy and Angel.
One thing to keep in mind about the ratings for this show is that all Starz content is available for free to anyone with Netflix. I have no idea how the Netflix numbers shake down, but that’s how I watched the 1.25 episodes of this show I managed to sit through.
Robert,
How does one skipped the pilot but see the second episode?
Anyway, this is a Raimi/Tapert production and really is in the vein of Xena/Hercules more than Rome…
…Excuse the grammar…
Given what is and who’s responsible for producing it, I’ve really enjoyed the first two episodes. All the nudity really isn’t that big of a deal to me; although, I have to say Lucy Lawless is hot for a 42-year-old mother of three.
I do have to say, Andy Whitfield is quite good as Spartacus. There’s talent there just waiting to be tapped, much like Lawless in her role as Xena.
The only downside to me is the silly blood splatter effect. It got old halfway through the first episode.
Robert, I told you the Lucy Lawless nudity was awesome back in the other post! hehehe
this show is crap. bad writing bad acting/the sooner they cancel this heap of crap the better.lucy tits ain’t worth siting though this. As a plastic surgeon i have to say to Lucy nice boob job.
I saw the pilot and the second episode. The pilot was not very good, but my better half liked it. So we watched the second episode which was a good improvement. If the writing improves, then the show will be great.
I liked the show but thought the blood and body parts flying everywhere were a little unnecessary. But got to see Lucy Lawless naked. Oh how I wish Xena would have been on pay cable. It really boggles the mind. I hope get to see episode three, can watch them on there web site.
Mmm They show everything, I like a show that doesnt hold back! Now if they just got the lead male to do nude I’d Explode with excitement. Also True Blood shows all too! Embrace the naked Human, PEOPLE!!!
