Yes, I know, the ratings for Lost don’t matter at all in terms of the show’s future prospects. Whatever it’s ratings are, it’s not going to be yanked off the air in mid season and so what’s the point of even thinking about the ratings?
Beyond this being a site where we love the ratings, and my personal love for Lost, there’s no point at all. But, this being a site where we love the ratings, and what with my personal love for Lost, I didn’t think there actually needed to be a point. So…
Finally, Lost returns! Unlike last season when I got to watch fifth season premiere over the Christmas holidays, this year other than the screening last weekend in Hawaii, ABC didn’t make the premiere available early. I haven’t seen it yet and am definitely looking forward to watching on the big screen in HD.
Let’s take a brief trip down memory lane. Here are the overnight results for last season’s premiere on January 21, 2009 (it was a Wednesday):

|ABC||LOST: Destiny Calls||8.48||3.4/9||3.1/9|
|UNI||Cuidado con el Angel||5.13||1.9/5||2.1/6|
|CW||13 – Fear is Real||1.36||0.5/1||0.7/2|

Only a year ago and that ratings table already seems so…nostalgic!
Lost’s season finale on May 13 averaged a 4.3 adults 18-49 rating, and 9.3 million viewers in the preliminary overnight numbers.
Every prediction for series or season premiere I’ve made this season has ranged from too low to way, way, way, way too low! Will I reverse the curse with Lost? My prediction for the two hour premiere is that it averages a 5.5 adults 18-49 rating and 12.6 million viewers.
