would someone care to inform me why 18-49 ratings matter more than overall ratings? Not looking for the “that’s just how it is” answer, looking for a bit of logic

  2. Jay, try the FAQ.

  3. val

Fox is a monster and CBS did well with all the repeats.

  4. SPJava

CBS did fantastic with repeats! Look at NCIS the long running and formerly low rated among the 18 – 49 show leap to near the top of that list. Huge booster shot give it by it’s offspring-spin off.
    They love LA!

Mr Seidman, I know this question is a bit off base here but I have only heard about this site six months ago and I was wondering if there is any way one can find out the weekly Nielsen Ratings for the TV season back from September 2008 through June 2009? I would be most grateful if you could help me. Thank you

  6. cufan

NBC has to put “State of The Union: ANALYSIS” is as a show in order to get a 2nd one in the Top 25. LOL! They really are “The Biggest Loser!” What a bunch of morons!

  7. Tom

WOW a repeat of the Good Wife coming in at #16!

  8. ric a.

    What is SORTILEGIO THU?

  9. Stan T.

I know I dont like shows like NCIS, you know, shows that do okay and so they make 5 copies of it….but i notice, a repeat of Two and a Half Men, did just under a new episode of NCIS. That should indicate to CBS that NCIS sucks…lol

  10. Tom

Bones had a great week coming in at #7!

  11. RiChO

Stan T. I’m pretty sure if you have a look though NCIS is still in the top 5 viewed shows all week so considering theres what maybe 200 shows on tv a week or something NCIS evidently doesn’t suck so maybe you should look at the whole story before posting something that’s obviously not very accurate

    to ric a. :
ric, SORTILEGIO is a Mexican telenovela. It airs on Univision Mon – Fri at 9pm

CBS shows ratings are inflated because they do not have their shows
on Hulu.com. NCIS, The Big Bang Theory, Etc. They are great shows, but
I know for a fact people will watch them and/or DVR them first. Because
they can get ABC, NBC, and Fox shows the following day on Hulu.

Even shows like 24 and Lost will lose out to CBS shows because of this.
And shows like Scrubs, Better off Ted, etc. that continue to struggle in
the ratings will see no improvement until either CBS jumps on the Hulu bandwagon, other networks pull out of the Hulu system, Or the Hulu viewing is monitored like normal television ratings and factored in.

  14. Holly

    1. CBS’s shows are on cbs.com, tv.com, fancast….

    2. Online viewing is monitored. It’s not included in the standard ratings right now, and won’t be in the overnight data even when it is, but it is monitored. The networks know how many views they have on hulu, the network sites, etc.

    3. Online viewing is still very low, fewer than 100,000 per episode even for the biggest shows.

  15. Brandt

I really am liking human target…..FOX is it….Sorry NBC, you need some new blood in suits over there and fast.
