CBS DRAMAS ARE #1, #2 AND #3 FOR THE NIGHT AMONG SCRIPTED SHOWS
"NCIS" Attracts 19.1 Million Viewers; "NCIS: Los Angeles" Posts 16.4 Million While "The Good Wife" Delivers 12.7 Million
CBS is First in Viewers From 9:00-11:00 PM Opposite the Premiere of "Lost" and "The Biggest Loser"
On the most competitive Tuesday of the season, CBS's three dramas—NCIS, NCIS: LOS ANGELES and THE Good Wife—were the night's top scripted programs, according to Nielsen preliminary live plus same day ratings for Feb. 2.
At 8:00 PM, NCIS was second in households (11.4/17), viewers (19.11m), adults 25-54 (5.7/13) and adults 18-49 (4.3/11) behind "American Idol." Compared to last week, NCIS was up +8% in adults 18-49 (from 4.0/11) and was even in adults 25-54. For the second consecutive week, NCIS finished in its closest competitive position against "American Idol" in adults 25-54 (vs. 10.0/23). NCIS also matched its closest competitive finish against "American Idol" in adults 18-49 (vs. 8.9/23).
At 9:00 PM, opposite the highly promoted premiere of "Lost," NCIS: LOS ANGELES was first in households (10.0/15), viewers (16.36m), second in adults 25-54 (4.8/11) and averaged a 3.6/09 in adults 18-49.
At 10:00 PM, against the second hours of both "Lost" and "The Biggest Loser," THE Good Wife was first in households (8.4/14), viewers (12.72m) and averaged a 3.6/09 in adults 25-54 and 2.6/07 in adults 18-49.
For the night, CBS was first in households (9.9/16), second in viewers (16.06m, -0.80m behind FOX) and averaged a 4.7/11 in adults 25-54 and 3.5/09 in adults 18-49.

CBS, no one really cares that my grandparents are watching your old, tired, procedural shows.
Yes horrendously old skewing, but NCIS still scores mid 4′s in the demo. Not shabby.
I’m a 24 year old female, am I considered “old” for watching NCIS?
Lynda, you are quite youthful by any definition. Young enough to be the granddaughter of much of NCIS’ audience.
What!? You’re 24 and watch NCIS? Majority of people that post here would hardly believe you exist.
It’s not a 1 to 1 relationship. Just because you watch doesn’t mean you are old, it just means a random viewer of NCIS is likely to be old. A 4.0 demo translates to what, less than 6 million? If it has 20+ million people in total, that means 14+ million are either over 49 or under 18, and I’m betting most are over 49. It’s not an insult, just probability.
NCIS is the best written show on TV and age has nothing to do with it.
In fact, it’s pretty much a family affair with Teens and parents watching it. Gibbs and the team rule. Get over your age thing. NCIS rocks.
People will talk about their crappy shows on whatever other network that gets 3.0, for example, then they will say, “forget about the total viewers, it’s the demo that counts.” Fine, let that be the case… can’t really disagree with that statement. But how come when people talk about NCIS, they ignore the fact that it pulls mid 4.0′s, which is solid on any network (and better than 3.0′s, mind you) and are all of a sudden quick to bring up the total viewers and mention that it’s old-skewing so it sucks. Double standard much?
The Good Wife is the best new drama on TV.
This show doesn’t get much press, but, the acting and the writing are exceptional on this show.
Julianna Margules should win an emmy for her role.
I am 16 and a huge Ncis fan, so am I crazy?
Plus, I am a Scrubs fan too. Nielsen says there are no People like me out there, but here I am!
Nielsen doesn’t deny your existence, it’s just millions more old people watch NCIS than young, apparently. I don’t watch it simply because I don’t have time on Tuesdays cause I’m watching BBT/2.5 DVR’d from Monday and yeah… not enough hours in a day.
@Acey
It’s tough. I understand you may have an idea of what a composite NCIS “hater” is like, but I’m not sure how many exist with a double standard. You are right if you catch someone championing a 3.0 on a FOX show, but downplaying NCIS’s old skew despite a 4.0. But it’s also probably that there are those who support a 3.0 FOX show and are silent on NCIS, while there are those who are silent on the 3.0 but poo-poo NCIS’ old skew. Not necessarily the same person. Certainly not me.
CBS has a lot of good programming for those of us that have no appreciation for “reality TV”. Age really has little to do with it in my world.
It’s not about age it’s about how unchallenging and unorigional CBS shows are that why they along with reality crap. The average american doesn’t want to have to think and be invested in plot if you do the same old same old great mind numbing crap. But not my mind give me a saving grace or the shield any day. Something that challenges you makes you think. Nor something that dumbs you down to the rest of the sheep.
CBS haters = bitter lossers! period!
CBS being “old-skewing” shouldn’t be a big deal. After all, it’s second to FOX in A18-49 which matters most. It’s just that people outside that demo choose CBS shows. Call it most-watched or most popular. After all, lots of CBS shows are performing well-above in A18-49, which again what matters most, compared to lots of shows in other networks.
Most of CBS’ programming is banal. ‘Nuff said.
I would rather watch something like NCIS that’s actually ABOUT something than American Idol, which is mostly a bunch of untallented people that think they can sing. But anyway we won’t have to worry about AI that much longer as Simon is leaving the show. No one will want to watch it anymore – so this might be the last season…
And by the way; I’m 23 and I’m watching NCIS and so do all my friends. Does that mean we’re old???
I am 27 and I watch NCIS AND NCIS LA. Everybody I talked to or know personally that watches NCIS & NCIS LA are in their 20′s and early 30′s. Are we considered old?
I’m 22 and totally enjoy NCIS/NCIS:LA/Good Wife. I’m glued to CBS on Tuesdays!
