PRODUCTION HAS BEGUN ON ABC’S “ROMANTICALLY CHALLENGED”

Production has begun in Studio City, California on “Romantically Challenged,” an ensemble comedy about four friends trying to find love and happiness, coming to ABC this season.

In “Romantically Challenged,” Alyssa Milano stars as Rebecca, a very recently divorced mom of two who hasn’t gone on a date since President Clinton was in office. Rebecca’s best friend since childhood, Perry, is a romance-aholic who falls in love with women 20 minutes after meeting them. Perry lives with his BFF Shawn, a struggling writer who has depended on Perry for financial stability since the turn of the century. Rounding out the group is Rebecca’s younger sister Lisa, a sweet kindergarten teacher who tries to hurt every man before he can hurt her.

The series stars Alyssa Milano as Rebecca, Kyle Bornheimer as Perry, Josh Lawson as Shawn and Kelly Stables as Lisa.

“Romantically Challenged” is executive produced by Ricky Blitt. James Burrows is executive producer and director. The series is produced by Warner Bros. Television.

‘Alyssa’ is spelled with a double ‘s’. ;)

I’m so happy she’s back on TV. She’s a good actress. Even though the plot isn’t entirely original, I’m interested in it because of Alyssa. She was great on Charmed.

There is a Portuguese saying that goes “What is born crooked, late or never gets straightened.”

This is not likely to be any good. Could be wrong, but my bet is on DOA.

  3. Trent

Glad to see Kyle Bornheimer recover so quickly from Worst Week getting cancelled. He was brilliant on that show so I will be happy to see him in a lead role on another sitcom.

  4. Paul

is this a multi camera or single camera comedy? does anyone know?

  5. Tariq

unfortunately it seems to be a multi

  6. perry & shawn = chandler & joey? (even perry’s name evokes the name of the actor who played chandler.) didn’t friends start during the clinton administration? i smell a late career comeback for the rembrandts…

  7. Matt

    haha… Vincent

I was just thinking about Friends when reading the first sentence.

  8. BobbyBrady

I think they changed the name — It’s now called “Six and Out”.

  9. Stefan

I hope this is gonna be good! It’s been almost 4 years since the end of Charmed, it’s about time for Alyssa to get back on the horse :)
And I watched Kelly Stables on 2 1/2 men, she’s funny. Kind of has that whole Kristin Chenoweth thing going on.

And yes, my first thought was Friends too, but let’s hope it’s not like that! :)

And since it’s ABC, I’m guessing – single camera (no live audience, NO annoying laugh track).

  10. Mumbo

    Ratingally Challenged

  11. Mark D.

Its gonna be on mondays in April.

  12. Joseph

    So, it is getting made.

Wait a minute? “James Burrows”? Is this a multiple-camera comedy?

And it’s from a third party studio.

Why do I get the feeling that this will crash and burn?

  13. U.N. Owen

ABC uses BFF in a press release? Sheeeeeeeeeeeeeeet.

  14. ABCHasProblems

When you consider that Romantically Challenged will air opposite The Big Bang Theory in April, it’s very likely that RC could become this year’s Surviving Suburbia and be pulled early for summer burnoff. If that does happen, ABC could timeshare RC, Scrubs, and Better Off Ted (assuming the latter two are canceled) and burn off all remaining episodes of those three series on Wednesday night at 8pm this summer.

  15. Stefan

    Opposite TBBT? Yikes!

OK I really don’t understand ABC now – there’s been this huge gap on Wednesdays since October and instead of trying to fit Scrubs, Ted or RC there (which would work thematically with Cougar Town btw) they instead air MF repeats.
What’s its lead-in? Another freshman comedy? I’m guessing nothing ABC has is 90 minutes long so it has to be another comedy right? That will run opposite 2 1/2 men!
    God, they’re dumb…

  16. Val

This sounds like an updated version of friends. zzzzzzzzzzzz

  17. ABCHasProblems

Stefan, DWTS will be airing from 8-9:30pm on Mondays and will serve as the lead-in to RC. To this day, the only show that has been successfully launched out of DWTS is Castle.

  18. aznfratboy

Definitely should be paired up with Cougar Town LOL

  19. Groove365

    Doesn’t sound funny.
    Is Alyssa Milano funny?
I can’t think of any comedy that she was memorable in.

  20. Lucky

@Groove365: You must be really young if you don’t know Alyssa Milano from 8 seasons Who’s the Boss.

@ABCHasProblems: When did ABC announce that the show would air on Mondays. I haven’t seen this press release.
