(Posing as Human Target’s Biggest Fan)
YAY! HT is actually up 20,000 people! That’s great! It proves how totally flawed the Nielsen system is! Now if only FOX would just keep us in one place/move us to an easier slot/use IDOL to prop us up again, we’re gonna get a Season 2!
Very happy with ABC sitcom ratings especially MODERN FAMILY
I’m am still at a loss as to why Human Target is airing before Idol at all. If you have an absolute ratings behemoth like American Idol, why wouldn’t you use it as often as you could to try and prop up other shows? The demo will watch whether it’s over by 9 or 10, as evidenced by the numbers for the two-hour-long episodes after Hollywood Week.
FOX just wanted to compete with ABC and CBS who have high rated shows at 9pm and with that move, Human Target suffered from it while Criminal Minds and Modern Family (and even Cougar Town) didn’t suffer that much facing AI (although it was a clip show but it still has a huge demo). FOX should move AI back at 8 if they want to earn more money for Human Target. Personally, I’m fine with AI at 9pm just because I want lesser competition for The Middle now that it’s gaining viewers, Modern Family has already proven it could handle AI and consequently helping Cougar Town as well.
I look at it the same way forg but for CBS; CM held up fine so whatever they decide to put 8 pm come fall/midseason might have a chance to succeed.
Wednesday at 8 is a weak hour. Arguably the weakest in primetime outside of Friday and Saturday.
Specials involving Super Bowl commercials won’t run every week. Fox knows American Idol would crush the competition but so what? Better to go after the bigger cume at 9 and try to take down stronger shows in the process.
Human Target won’t compete with Criminal Minds or Modern Family but HT can beat the 8 p.m. shows. Christine/Gary won’t pull 11 million viewers or a 2.9 demo like the commercial special did.
HT has enough viewers to win the hour under normal circumstances, 7.8 million. Now, HT needs two more ticks to take the demo. That’s possible assuming the show remains in its time slot for more than one episode.
I’m guessing we won’t be getting a second season of Human Target unless something changes. Maybe Wednesday’s AI audience just isn’t a good fit for it because it doesn’t seem like a bad show. I wonder how it would do paired up with 24?
As someone else mentioned there is no point in trying to launch a new show on FOX by pairing it with Idol unless you are going to use Idol as a lead in.
why can’t ABC banish Ugly Betty to the summer and start Happy Town earlier so all 8 episodes air in season
Tariq, I don’t think there’s much hope from Happy Town. Not only is it from the same people who made the unwatchable October Road, it’s saddled with what has become one of ABC’s most troubled time slots.
Modern Family did even better Wahoo
Please Mercy bounce back next week.
yes mercy, please
