Animal Planet is looping this year's Puppy Bowl VI seven times starting at 3pm ET with repeats of the American Kennel Club Eukanuba National Championship in Long Beach last December and Dogs 101 rounding out the lineup.
Last year I think it only looped the Puppy Bowl V four times Here are last year's numbers (February 1, 2009):
| Date | Show | Net | Day | Time | Live+SD (000) |
| 1-Feb-09 | PUPPY BOWL | APL | Sun | 03:00P-05:00P | 1,152 |
| 1-Feb-09 | PUPPY BOWL | APL | Sun | 05:00P-07:00P | 769 |
| 1-Feb-09 | PUPPY BOWL | APL | Sun | 07:00P-09:00P | 509 |
| 1-Feb-09 | PUPPY BOWL | APL | Sun | 09:00P-11:00P | 370 |

1,152 – is this one million?
I stop by the Puppy Bowl, with the kitten half time show, especially if the game is boring. I know a lot of people who stop by and watch the puppy bowl and I’ll bet a bunch of people have it on the ‘second tv’ for the younger kids to watch so they can watch the game in peace for a bit. lol
1,152,000 – thus the (000) notation in the header!
hmmm how many little old ladies are there in America?
you know it’s kind of funny, but it has been shown that when showing a screener for a film or a television show to test audiences, footage of animals (like dogs and cats, not wildebeasts and warthogs) always gets better scores from the test audience. I’m surprised the puppy bowl doesn’t scoop up 20 million, especially considering no one else programs against the super-bowl.
the puppy bowl doesn’t get 20 million because its on Animal Planet and many people don’t know about it. I didn’t know it even existed until about a week ago and I actually get (but rarely watch) Animal Planet
I seriously didn’t know this existed until last Friday when a classmate mentioned it. It sound adorable.
1 million people + 100,000 dogs
It is really cute. We caught a repeat from a previous year a week ago and my youngest son loved it. He was completely still for an entire hour watching the dogs “play football”. They do instant replays and slow mo shots. My son’s favorite is the water bowl camera, where you can see the dogs drinking from underneath the see through bowls. He has already picked out his MVP (most valuable puppy) from the website. Of course now he REALLY wants his own puppy – so parents let them watch at your own risk!
Jared,
If you use 60 years old as a bottom line, then over 24,000,000 as of the 2004 US govt census estimates. If you go with 65 years of age, then about 21,000,000.
It is a very cute TV show though.
I always like the story of the TV station, I think in NYC, that shows an open fireplace burning away on Christmas morning and get high ratings. Now that is a case of people watching anything….
The Program is called yule log. It has a pretty interesting history and since they brought it back in 2001 it has won its timeslot every year.

The “Yule Log” runs in many markets. KSTC in Minneapolis aired it for 25 hours.
Eh, it’s cute for a little while and then it just seems ridiculous and a waste of time, IMO. I can’t imagine how numb my poor brain would feel if I sat through 3+ hours of watching that bunch of fluffy nothing over and over.
All I know is that I heard, “AWW, THE PUPPY BOWL!!” repeatedly for about two hours this afternoon. My roommates are fans.
I’m mainly in it for the halftime show.
I watched it this year for the first time. I’m 19 and I’ll tune in next year too. Your heart just melts. My mom and sister loved it too.
I have been a faithful Puppy Bowl watcher since the first Bowl.
It’s a lot more fun that a bunch of over paid men who take a break every 20 seconds.
We flipped to the Puppy Bowl a couple times for maybe a minute each. Got to see bits of the puppies, the kitchen half time show, and the hamsters in the sky.
Considering how cheap this must be to produce, this must be ratings gold for Animal Planet.
