Not a particularly big surprise, but Jeff Probst has confirmed on his Twitter account that he'll be back for both cycles of Survivor (seasons 21 & 22) during the 2010-2011 TV season.

For anyone who can't see the graphic above for whatever reason, it says:
Survivor fans: I'm jazzed and wanted to share with you guys first -I'll be back snuffing torches for two more seasons (21&22) of Survivor.
Probst has said in the past that the show could live on without him, but CBS won't have to deal with that possibility before the 2011-2012 season.
Probst tweet follows EW's story breaking the news where Dalton Ross also notes:
But, like any good Survivor story, this one has a twist. When Probst renewed his contract in the past (after seasons 12 and 16), it was for four cycles over two years. His latest renewal, however, covers only seasons 21 and 22 and will expire in 2011. While that would seem to indicate that the host is ready to finally call it quits and take his act elsewhere next spring, Probst insists that is not necessarily the case. “I’m not approaching this as my last year of Survivor,” says Probst. “I was just comfortable taking it one year at a time. It certainly made it easier for me to just commit to one year and then we can revisit it again next year if everybody wants to.” [Could Survivor continue if Probst hangs up his snuffer, plus more after the jump.]

After all these years I still look forward to Survivor.
Its like “The Price is Right” with Drew and “The Tonight Show” with Conan
it is JUST not the same
Right there with you Bill. Survivor wouldn’t be the same without Jeff. He is perfect for that role and I hope he continues until the show is canceled.
As for the Price is Right – that’s for sure! Can’t stand Drew Carey on there. Really miss Bob Barker!
I think it’s more like Ryan Seacrest and Idol
Congrats to Jeff. I’ve watched every season of Survivor and it still works for me. I hope the show keeps going strong.
I agree Survivor without Probst isn’t the same. And good for him, I’m sure he’s finally making some good $$$ for it. I remember him saying for the first four seasons or so he didn’t get paid very much.
Let’s see how Survivor 20 does this Thursday night. I don’t remember there ever being a 2 hour season premiere. (I wonder if it’s just two episodes put together or if they have something interesting in mind to get the season started.)
Good for Jeff. A very underrated TV host…Much better than Ryan Seacrest. I don’t see how Survivor could go on without him.
Agree about Jeff but who would be a good replacement? We’re so used to his style and feel comfortable with him.
Maybe Howard Stern?
BWAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!
Seriously, I can’t think of one person. Might have to cast a complete unknown but the wrong choice could kill the show.
Looks like Probst will keep committing to one year at a time. He seems to feel ready to leave but just can’t quite let it go.
The show could live on without Probst, but like everyone said, it just wouldn’t be the same. He’s been doing it 10 years already, that’s only natural.
WooHoo i dont see how survivor cold contiue if he said he didnt wanna do it anymore.
While he’s a great host and, indeed, he would be missed, the show would be just fine in the long run. Maybe the first season with the new host would suffer a bit but, at the end of the day, people watch the show for the inter-personal dynamics of the castaways, as well a the challenges. I mean, out of 42 minutes, Jeff isn’t actually on screen for more than 5. He’s a great host and there’s a sense of familiarity with the show as long as he’s “snuffing torches”, as he says, but it’s not “The Jeff Probst Show”, it’s “Survivor”.
CBS should be more worried about casting and creating new challenges. As long as the castaways are interesting to watch and the producers can come up with some new twists for the gameplay, that’s what matters.
But I still love Jeff.
The season premiere of Survivor:Amazon was two hours.
I’m confident Survivor 20 will do better than Samoa, bodes well for 21 and 22. I’m glad it’s 2 hours because it will lead right into a new Mentalist, which hopefully they plug throughout the 2 hours. I know a few other Mentalist fans that post here will appreciate it, too.
