ABC has renewed Shaq vs. the summer reality series starring Shaquille O'Neal for a six episode run this summer.

Shaq Vs. stars O'Neal  in competition versus top athletes in other sports. In season one, O'Neal wound up verus Pittsburgh Steelers' Ben Roethlisberger,  Misty May-Treanor and Kerri Walsh  the St. Louis Cardinals' Albert Pujols, Oscar de la Hoya  and Michael Phelps.

Despite being given a handicap, Shaq didn't win any of the competitions last year.

Shaq vs. the ratings didn't see the 7 footer come up very tall.  Its best numbers of season one were a 1.7 live+SD adults 18-49 rating and around 4.3 million viewers, but that still winds up better than much of the summer fare on the broadcast networks.

I hope Shark Tank is next for renewal :D

  3. Kevin

Shaq versus the Sharks in Shark Tank!

  4. Shaq vs. Lindsey Vonn…the handicap is Vonn’s injured shin.

  5. Richie

Now they have to renew Shark Tank…

  6. Kevin

Big Daddy, I’d say those three (at the very least hockey, soccer and MMA) are very viable candidates. I’d also throw in:

Usain Bolt (obviously a major handicap here)

  7. Johnny

How about Shaq going up against the hot dog eating champ? I think Shaq could hold his own.

  8. Who Knows?

    Shaq vs. Brian Boitano!

Shaq vs. that woman who beat all of the men in pro bowling

Shaq vs. Roger Federer (that would be embarassing for poor Shaq)

Shaq vs. Lebron James (oops, Lebron won that one already!)

  9. I think we all knew season 2 was coming. My hope is that it is presented as a 30-minute show. I watched a few eps last summer, and my biggest complaint was it is a 30-minute program presented in 60 minutes.

However, I can hope all I want. It’s most definitely going to be an hour long like last year.

I watched all the episodes last year. Wasn’t interested going in, but Shaq is very funny and he actually did very well. Most important, it was good, fun escapist summertime entertainment. I’m glad that they are bringing it back.

I actually loved Shaq Vs. lol. Shaq was a goofball as usual and it seemed like a show that was fairly easy to produce so it probably wasn’t too bad for the network and it was good summer entertainment. It was great to see Sha

  14. Static

    Shaq vs Fedor / Couture

Shaq vs The Black Smoke Monster

Shaq vs Lady Gaga (who can dress up more ridiculously)

    Shaq vs Ray Lewis (football)

    Shaq vs Norm Duke (bowler)
