A&E has renewed Steven Seagal: Lawman for a second season picking up an order for 16 episodes, three more than season one's 13 episodes.
Seagal and his Sheriffs Department colleagues again will protect the people of New Orleans, but this time the production filmed during Mardi Gras.
"It presents some unique challenges to the police force and Seagal; there's such a high volume of people you never quite know what you're going to get," said Robert Sharenow, who executive produces the series with Seagal, John X. Kim, Phillip B. Goldfine and Neil A. Cohen
Season 1 of "Lawman" was a success for the network, averaging 2.1 million viewers and 1.3 million adults 18-49, making it A&E's best freshman performance by an original series in total viewers.

Seriously? Wow.
This show is awesome.
I don’t get why reality shows are so popular. I really don’t. I don’t harp on people who do like reality shows. People can like whatever they want and they shouldn’t have to justify it, but I just don’t understand it. It just baffles me. Just my humble opinion.
taste of u.s.a goes deeper into the crapper with every fleeting moment.
taste of the u.s.a goes deeper into the cra*per with every fleeting moment.
Don’t worry. It’s not just the USA. Reality TV, casting shows and generic crime procedurals are just as successful in germany and we don’t even have channels (like HBO, Showtime, FX or Amc) which produce premium fiction.
this is one of the greatest shows on television. it’s like watching michael scott on cops but with steven seagal teaching me.
is that Kevlar vest keeping the bullets out, or is it’s only purpose to keep his massive belly in?
Lawman is awesome besides the ridiculous “visions” he has.
I enjoy Lawman. They could tighten up the editing. Seagal and his crew are very down to earth. I like to see their community involvement – it is very refreshing.
I don’t really consider Segal as your typical reality show. Its a lot like COPS, very informed type of show.
The crappy reality shows are ones like Sixteen I’m Pregnant and Jersey Shore. YUCK!
Is Jefferson Parrish really part of United States.
Some of you hating on “reality” in general are too skeptical. First of all “reality” is such a huge genre, it’s like saying I hate “comedies”. There are so many types of reality shows (competitions, documentary, celebrity competition, etc.)
Anyway, the reason Segal’s show is so great is because it’s REAL. For all of these years to know that action star Steven Segal has literally been a cop all of these years is incredible! I mean, how cool is that? And now we get to see him in action, and the guy we see on A&E is like the same character in all of Segal’s movies! it’s like watching a real-life movie! He even has “super powers” when he sees people scratching their nose, and Segal’s like, “pull over, that guy just robbed a bank”, and sure enough the guy’s got like a bag with a dollar sign under his shirt.
And then he teaches martial arts to the cops and kids, just like his movie characters did. He constantly references Asia and the martial arts, just like his movie characters.
Then he shoots the top of a matchstick with a gun, and is a better marksman then everybody, it’s awesome.
So to answer your question as to why Lawman is so great, it’s because we’ve watched this “Steven Segal” character in movies for the past 20 years, and we’re finding out it’s all real! It’s like watching a kick-ass movie character walking around in OUR world.
We’ve seen “John McClaine” change diapers and cheat on his wife, we’ve seen “Rambo/Rocky” get arrested for HGH at an airport, we’ve seen “Conan/Terminator” be governor, but when we finally see the REAL Steven Segal, we find out he is THE SAME EXACT PERSON AS HIS MOVIES!
In a way, this is the greatest show of all time, and I’m not being faceteous.
