After getting pummeled against the opening ceremonies of the Vancouver Winter Olympics games on Friday February 12, viewing for Spartacus: Blood and Sand rebounded based on preliminary numbers for Friday February 19 when it averaged almost 850,000 viewers and a .4 rating with adults 18-49.
I know we're talking small numbers, but for Starz, it's a pretty big deal...
| Date | Net | Show | 18-49 Rating/Share | Viewers (Millons) |
| 22-Jan-10 | STRZ | Spartacus: Blood and Sand | .3/1 | 0.659 |
| 29-Jan-10 | STRZ | Spartacus: Blood and Sand | .4/1 | 0.773 |

Here's some additional information from Starz comparing episode five to episode 4 (note, any ratings points below are coverage ratings, not national ratings, and the coverage for Starz is relatively small so they will look pretty big, but alas Friday's episode had a .4 rating with adults 18-49 when compared with national numbers, and not a 1.7 adults 18-49 rating nationally):

glad to see the series picking back up. Will admit the first episode was horrible, but since then I believe it has gotten a lot better, found it’s niche. Still seems to have a lot of controversy around it, mainly people complaining about the sex and violence, but its a piece set showing the times. Script has gotten better, some pretty good plots. Hopefully the ratings continue to grow.
I have to admit this series is starting to grow on me. This past episode was easily the best since the premiere, which may not be saying much since we’re only 5 episodes in. I could do without all the swinging penises, but maybe I’m not the target audience for all that. Regardless, I’m hooked.
Like I
Like I have said before, its not Rome but its pretty entertaining. Some pretty hot broads and graphic violence. I am liking it.
I tend to agree with the above comments, I found the sex unnecessary in the pilot. It has since been mellowed, the graphic combat scenes have also improved in the pilot they were stylised, looked a lot like tomato sauce but it looks a lot like blood now. Nice work Starz!
Jimmy, they need to keep the swinging penises
I’ll have them and you can have the boobs, everyone’s happy lol. This show is currently my guilty (very guilty) pleasure.
Love this show really don’t watch much TV however this has the feel of the Sopranos great series action and great story lines. Keep up the great work!!!!
This past weeks episode with the culminating battle had all of us in the house in goosebumps. It was so well done, and put the edge of this series even higher in our books.
We have watched each episode on launch, and the growth of characters and the story and writing all improve.
MUST HAVE MORE…
The wife and realy like the shows. More sex would make it better.
The women we talk to like see the men total naked. More naked men.
