The Boondocks Announces Season Three Premiere Date
The Boondocks, the award-winning animated Adult Swim series based on Aaron McGruder’s comic strip by the same name, returns this spring for its third season. After taking a two year hiatus, creative and executive producer McGruder announced on his twitterfeed (@aaronmcgruder) that the third season premiere of The Boondocks will air on Sunday, May 2nd at 11:30 p.m. (ET/PT) on Adult Swim. The series, produced by Rebel Base in association with Sony Pictures Television, includes the vocal talents of Regina King ("Southland") as Huey and Riley Freeman; John Witherspoon ("Friday After Next") as Granddad; Gary Anthony Williams ("Boston Legal") as Uncle Ruckus; Cedric Yarbrough ("Reno 911") as Tom Dubois; Jill Talley ("American Dad") as Sarah; and Gabby Soleil ("Johnson Family vacation") as Jazmine.
The show will return to the small screen continuing to provide the touchy, and oftentimes controversial, humor and situations for which the show has become infamous for. The third season will cover various topics that range from politics and mainstream media, to social norms and pop culture.

So happy to hear this news with an actual date attached ([as] bumps have been teasing forever). I’ve heard the scripts are amazing.
How many episodes have they ordered?
Wow. You’d think I would take time out of my busy life to learn how to read.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but um… it was actually supposed to return in March, right? I’m so sick and tired of them changing the premier date. It’s getting ridiculous.
Honestly, I have lost interest. I will catch the shows at some point, but there is no reason why the show should take two years between airings. The show isn’t “that good” that they can take two years to put the show together and I still care about it.
What are the historical ratings for this turkey? (Give me Venture Bros. anytime…)
Is Caesar going to be in the new season?
It’s occaisionally funny, but it’s the ugliest looking show on adult swim with the possible exception of Metalocalypse.

I’m so glad this show is finally coming back. =] the only thing is like someone up there ^ said, which is why does adult swim take so long to renew shows? I really miss the old days of adult swim, (brak show, athf, boondocks, space ghost, robot chicken, sealab 2021, etc etc) they FINALLY brought back ATHF (yay!) but they just keep running these dumbass shows week after week, which are starting to teeter on the side of just straight up dumb instead of dumb-funny. Go back to your early days [adult swim]!!! (oh and stop re-airing fox’s shows, family guy is awesome, but that’s enough. king of the hill is okay, but american dad has got to go!!!!)
