I think NBC would be thrilled if it averaged even close to a 3.0, but it will probably need to premiere higher than that.

parenthood is starting off with a hefty promotion and positive buzz from tv critics which mean good for the new show
let say the show will start with at least 3.0 in 18-49 adult

Holly, that’s true, and totally my point. Leno-haters thought that they were vindicated when Leno went back to late-night, but all it really resulted in was an L&O shift from Friday to Monday and an extra repeat of SVU. I doubt there will be a slew of new scripted content next fall, either. 1 or 2 hours maybe. Hardly the 5 hours of Leno that some say “stole” from scripted dramas.

And if they really wanted to they could have aired Persons Unknown and 100 Questions. I don’t know if we will see the former and highly doubt we’ll see the latter.

However, my main point was that even for reality shows, this crop of 3 new unscripted shows seems bottom of the barrel.

It is much, much darker. In fact, with the graphic killings on Chuck now, Chuck would be better suited to at least 9pm, & maybe 10pm.

And where were they going to get those scripted shows at such short notice? A “non-scripted” show can go from concept to air a LOT quicker than a scripted show. The real test will be what NBC does with its schedule next season when they have time to develop scripted shows.

Who Do You Think You Are is a show that’s been a massive hit in the UK. It’s very good actually, and if the US sticks to the same format, I think it’s likely to be quite interesting.

What you have to remember is that, while the person you’re watching is famous, the chances are, their ancestors aren’t. The UK shows works because it’s an interesting look at history. If the US one is true to that idea, then it will be very good too.

Ya know, I’ve been to Canada, and I live in America…but I couldn’t POSSIBLY care less who won in hockey. (I mean, really- take two teams, play’em an infinite amount of times; it’s just probability: even Tampa Bay was a winner one year!)

I’m glad to see things start to get back to normal again. There’s a lot of shows I like, and they seem to have all been stomped to watch the world’s oldest reality show. :/
