Jay Leno's winning streak is over, ending at 5 days.  On Monday night The Tonight Show had a 1.1 rating with adults 18-49 based on fast national numbers (which cover the country more broadly than the 25 local People Meter markets we reported this morning).  Letterman's Late Show had a 1.3 rating with adults 18-49.  Dave beat Jay with adults 25-54, too with a 1.6 rating  versus Leno's 1.4 rating.

Leno still edged out Letterman in total viewers 4.36 million to 4.19 million.

  9. I can not believe Leno is pulling in these numbers. Does America really likes safe and boring humor? Apparently so. Leno is just unwatchable. I have laughed more times at Conan’s twitter stream than anything Leno has said lately.

Nice to see that Dave is picking up in the ratings war.

What this appears to show is that the total audience for TTS and LN combined is about 1.5 million viewers higher than when it was Dave and Conan, with no loss of the 18-49 demo (and perhaps a bit of an increase). Team Coco my rear end. Not that I enjoy Leno’s show. He really is lame as a host.

Like I said in the other thread, it’s going to be a seesaw battle, with Leno winning more often, but neither gaining a clear-cut advantage. Monday will likely continue to be Leno’s worst night, because that’s NBC’s weakest primetime lineup.
