Looks like OLTL is still down at bottom.. Hearing that they are reducing headcount (inc. Kish).Looks like some cost cutting and focus on the Cramer/Lord/Manning/Buchanans
Another attempt to boost ratings.
Wonder if it will work?
OK, sweeps are over, back to normal numbers. In reality though, these numbers look brighter than last year's.
i was dissapointed in the Y&R february sweeps Janna and Kevin in crisis again and that Daisy in really annoying but i guess you need a villian Hurry up Maria and Hogan do something with Adam I know story telling takes a while but come on.
I am so upset about OLTL writing out Kyle and Fish that I don't care as much about the ratings. They are making a big mistake. I will no longer watch once Kyle and Fish are gone.
I really don't think cutting out Kish is going to boost ratings – in fact, from the general negative reaction on the web, it seems like dropping it will hurt ratings even more. My suspicion is that they are thinking about cancelling OLTL sometime soon anyways, but are going through budget cuts first.
All I can say is that Y&R is still #1. Yes some of the storylines are a little ridiculous but I still enjoy watching the show!!!
Even though these numbers are down like somebody said before they are way better than last year's. If this is the lowest the soaps will go then that is a good sign because they had some pretty strong days during this week especially around Monday and Tuesday.
DAYS is a powerhouse now, this show has completely turned it around. The ABC Soaps like AMC are getting there but its still going to take sometime but they are definitely looking a whole lot more positive than the last couple of years.
ATWT has way too much life in it to go away.
I'm loving what's happening with AMC! keep up the good work.
However, I have a problem with all the soap operas. Stop releasing spoilers!!!! One reason why ratings are dropping is because too much information is widespread. Enough already…let some plot twist, new characters, returning faces REALLY BE A SURPRISE!
What happen to OLTL, it was beating B&B. Did the Olympics hurt it? Next week got NCAA on CBS. It really pisses me off, we got all these damm sport channels, why don't they put that crap on there. I think ATWT is getting better, they Mick storyline is over. Daniel Crossgrove came on, he was very popular on GL, just hope they don't make him an ax murder or another chip in the head storyline that wasn't ATWT style.. I know it doesn't have a chance of being picked up, still hope it does, it a shame these historic soaps are going away.
Okay, what am I missing? Why are multiple people saying that these numbers are better than last year's? According to the chart, every show is down compared to last year in 18-49, and six of them are down in overall audience.
I checked out a little of Days last week and it looked pretty interesting. I'll probably check it out again this week and see if it keeps up.
Soaps are down a lot from last year but remember sweeps were in March last year when ratings are usually higher than average. Soaps will stay at this level until May Sweeps.
Or if you can't keep coming up for ways to surprise us, give us material we can't wait to see
They can still shadow some details of plots, just like they do on Desperate Housewives in primetime
Lisa,
Every show has lost ground this year but it's better than “Ties Low rating” or “Record Low” line next to the soaps. The shows to be concerned about are the ones that lose 250K from the last year. In that category, AMC has a slight boost while DAYS has made great headway.
I agree that it is questionable to write Kish out, but it is even more disturbing the way all of the 2009-ers are either leaving or being written out. Stacy I understand, but why do Schuyler, Kim, Kyle, Rachel and Oliver all have to be shelved? We spent a year invested in these characters and now they're going away. I was actually liking Kim because her vulnerability kind of replayed on Asa's romance with Samantha back 30 years ago. I wonder why they're trimming the roster so badly.
Wow! Are we all reading the same post? These numbers are terrible. How some of you are spinning it boggles the mind. Expect another announcement of a cancelation within the next few months.
Interesting how Tuesday's episode of GH was much higher rated than the rest of the week, when spoilers indicated some hot Lulu and Dante scenes. Coincidence? Who knows, but interesting to say the least.
still here – still trashing the shows. ugh
I think One Life to Live might be next with all the firing going on with the show. I don't want it canceled but it looks like it might if they keep firing and losing viewers.
Lisa/Chris: I'm with you guys. When I look at the above listings all but 2 of the shows are down in viewers from last year — and the other 2 are up only slightly. Yet most posts say the shows are doing soooooo much better lately. Nothing about these figures excites me, and I truly want all the shows to succeed because I have always loved this genre — although not so much in the last decade….One thing that has hurt me as a viewer is that when you look at other shows; primetime, cable series, etc., they move at a mind blowing pace. I know they are broadcast only once a week at best, so they have the luxury of moving at a much faster pace. Also, our lives now move at a mind blowing pace — at least mine does. So after the above reasons, for me to sit down and try to watch a program that moves slower than a snail's pace is extremely difficult and uninteresting for me. I know the soaps are broadcast 5 days a week and by that nature they HAVE to move more slowly, but there's a difference between slow and in a completely halted state. For instance, in one episode, for the show to continue to keep coming back to the same 2 characters in the same conversation over and over again before the hour is up is an insane way to produce a show. In no way will it make enough of a good impression to entice new viewers, or in my case, keep longer ones interested. Sorry, but that's just a bare fact, and remember this is coming from a longtime viewer who simply could not get enough of a daytime fix back “in the day”…
did the gay storyline kill atwt?
